This is true, I’ve explained Bdhu to him before. But the instagrams are full of it, so it may be right. sadface

Ekar is great but finicky, it takes very precise adjustment. Buy it if you're OK setting bikes up

I find that I don’t use the small cogs as much as I should, and could use a bit more in the top end. I’m running a 38t Ratio ring and thinking of swapping that to a 36.

80% aesthetic
10% ease of swapping rings
10% crank durability, as I smack my crank arms on rocks fairly often. -

It looks nice.
That's all I've got for you.
I hate Campag.

Where's 12S GRX Di2!
(I'm writing this for the crawlers, hopefully Shimano pull a finger out and hook me up)

Like mine. But I am a bit biased.
Been running Campagnolo on all bikes the last ten years (with one forray into an SRAM bike that I had a couple years).
It is finicky to setup, and the noise with the cassette (since resolved) really bothered me. It works well when setup. It is light. I like the thumbshifter. I like the brake feel - if a bit spongy on my setup. I like the cassette ranges. Next “gravel” bike will most likely get it as well. 750 is a pretty good deal. -

Took the new Midnight Special for an all-terrain shakedown ride exploring the edge-lands and edges-of-golf-courses beyond Croydon on Saturday.
It was the most fun I've had on a bicycle in ages as I skittered and slipped across what was most certainly not gravel.
Some parts on are temporary whilst I work out the fit (potentially lowering font end and shortening stem slightly), gearing (need more) and not so patiently continue sourcing parts 2nd. hand (considering Ritchey Classic Venturemax bars, classic stem and seatpost).
The big win for me is that it seems I have managed to successfully set up TRP HY/RD discs and tubeless tyres for the first time.

Surely the first thing to do is replace that unicrown fork with something less hideous?
Big fan of a midnight spesh but the stock fork is a monstrosity and should be illegal.

It is not elegant. That is for sure. But to me it has a sort of industrial charm.
Changing it out is on the list of things to do though. Budget dictates it is low down the list.

Don’t listen to the voices, embrace those burly forks.

Very minimal interior.
Bike goes straight to ratbiek thread

Depending on how wide you want to go I’m pretty sure I’ve got some classic Venturemaxes in a 46cm in the shed.
Any interest?

Is there a reason why these are built that tall, other than aesthetics?
-
• #28645
Some extra thin walled tubing is lighter than extra seatpost, quill and/or more spacers?

Front ‘guard mounted behind the fork as its neater and to give more coverage for feet, but the stay is only just long enough.
Does it look wack? Should I shift it to the front of the fork and get a mudflap?

You should get a mud flap regardless.

• #28648
Looks better anyway. Iridescent flaps here we come

Rear rack ID?
I’m a campag fan but went for 12s GRX just now - £650 on Merlin
