Aliens Fireteam Elite (free on PS+)
This would have been amazing in the lightgun, Time Crisis era of gaming.
It's odd to play this after recently playing Alien Isolation, as it takes lots of xenomorphs to actually kill you, even big fuckers give you a QTE to escape (how very 2000s)
I'll probably play it through once, uninstall it and never think of it again

New OLED Steam Deck looks very nice. Makes me wish I was on the move enough to justify one.

I’m eagerly keeping an eye on the rivals but nothing comes close.
Just lost over an hour of my life to Outrun 2006, playing on PSP emulator on the RGB30. Frameskipping and reduced FPS, but if you didn’t have the counter onscreen you’d play happy.
Man I love Outrun.

I remember stopping off at Gatwick on an overnight ride to Brighton to set a high score on their OutRun machine, absolutely adore that game.

Damn.
I remember a machine in the basement of an arcade in central London up until a couple years ago, maybe on the Southbank?
Once upon a time was a machine in Swindon in the cinema. Can’t remember the other locations I found OR2 over the years.
On the subject, I sorely miss using just once in my life Afterburner and Afterburner 3D. Both were full moving cabs in the Canary Islands. They had the most awesome arcades in the 90’s and early 00’s.

Anyone played Rollerdrome?
-
• #28615
Yeah there was a Namco Arcade on the Southbank, never got to go to it myself and looks like it closed down just after COVID.
I remember getting a bus down to Dublin with a friend solely to go play on one of these:
That and the Battle Gear cabinets were always my go to. Need to have another look at running OutRun 2006 on my computer. Tried getting the PC version working with a wheel last year and it was a faff, might try a PS2 emulator instead (in fact, I'm fairly sure I've still got the PS2 disc kicking around somewhere so might just try that first!)

Yea still got my OG XBox that was softmodded, with both versions of OR2 on the hdd. That with a…Logitech?… wheel with force feedback, that’s the dog’s.
Would love to get it running through the PC but modding the OG cable connector and driver problems it would be easier to buy a PS2/USB wheel I guess.

Is there an Atari lynx simulator?

Nice! I've got an old Logitech Driving Force Pro (the GT4 wheel), will give it a go on the PS2 and if that works hopefully getting it running on the PS2 emulator. Would be ridiculous if that setup was easier than running the PC version with a wheel but equally I wouldn't be surprised!

To be fair it was also a planned snack stop!

• #28622
I’ll look up what wheel I have. If I could get it running like you, I’d be well chuffed.

Gonna start Resident Evil 4 remake on PS5 tonight. Extremely excited!
-
• #28624
Yeah and how long did the high score take?
-
• #28625
Less than 4 and a half minutes as far as I recall! Been quite a few years since I've had a proper play through though
Not to me I hope!
