Good spot, it forms hydroxide ions in solution which will indeed saponify your skin oils and any residual milk fat in the flask. I rather imagined that the offending flask had already been washed out with a detergent đŸ™‚
I think it’s only the sodium sulphate which is a filler. The sodium carbonate is the detergent and that’s probably what I can feel saponifying (sp?) my skin when I get it on my fingers.
