I wanted to leave a good third of the barn empty as a inside, outside terrace.
I love that idea

Ebay, if you have the time to trawl.

Your local art college or at least one that has art courses. You never know they could be the next Warhol, Hurst or Turner.
We’ve picked up so nice bits from NUA.

When I was younger a mate's grandma or godparent bought each of their grand/godchildren a piece from the St Martins eoy exhibition on the same rational.

It’s actually a ceramic. The paper is hessian with plaster poured into it and then hand printed. The portrait and frame is pottery as well. It’s a shame I have lost the 2 massive rusty drawing pins that came with it.

Haha! I’ve not got lucky… yet…but if you like them it doesn’t matter really.

Thoughts on this week's Grand Designs Passivehaus Premium in the Cotswolds?
I quite liked the design, but it was way too big. 800 square meters for 2 people is frankly obscene, you'd need to own a sit on vacuum cleaner. Also having massive energy generation that couldn't be fed back into the grid so was just frittered away, I felt the whole thing was done for the sake of it.

massive energy generation that couldn't be fed back into the grid
Presumably this is essential to get Premium status? Otherwise entirely pointless.
Was the size of the roof (and therefore house) necessary to generate sufficient leccy?

They did say at the start that it was far too big, but they feared losing and not getting new planning consent if they went for a smaller build.
But yes it did seem a bit I can piss higher than you. -

Looks like with a bit of thought and considered landscaping they could add on a Tesla charging station. That would fit aesthetically, make use of the wasted energy and provide passive income.
German building/zoning law has Freizeitgrundstücke which are in between building land and farm/whatever land.
You can build a Datscha that's smaller than 30sqm and permanent residence is not allowed, might be that.
Just found a barn not far from Berlin that would be great to do something like that. But a) no money no time and b) if I did something like that it would have to be a bit further from neighbours.
