Not so clear IMO, there is legal can you read a licence plate at the minimum. Then what you feel safe. Have stopped due to low sun on wet roads that the light, without darkened glasses ,I was unable to see the road, pavement and moving vehicles clearly. Tho I could read a reg plate of a stopped car at the right distance. Wasn't afraid of hitting a car was afraid of being hit by a car cos motorcyclists lives don't matter.
Reality is shades of grey.

Just had a slightly scary half blind ride home after sitting down, wondering what was in my back pocket, squishing about on the saddle a bit trying to work it out before thinking, where are my glasses. I’m legal sans specs but there is a huge gap between legal and safe.
