Are these MTB q factor? Have you test fitted to the frame?
-
• #103
Not tested fitted yet but i have two different axle widths to try one of which is MTB spec. Direct mount chainring is also meant for MTB chainline.

Excellent I bet It will be fine then

Exciting to see this build up! Great choice on the color! What is the story/idea behind the removable rear end?
-

I’ve fitted hollowgrams to the MTB with a modified mtb axle. Offset on chainring was 6mm and I works beautifully well. Recommend the ethirteen BB as it’s quite narrow.

I have been looking for a UI-12 for ages. Blue Lug shipping to Vienna is ridiculous at 60 euros plus fees and taxes. I ended up buying one of these Spa Cycles Ti stems the last time I was in London for work. They have a very similar slim aesthetic and could match nicely with the Ti seatpost.
Spa also sells matching spacers.

Good call, I had seen these before but unfortunately they don't go down to 70mm but I might away with 80mm.

Thanks! Main thouht was that I've disassembled this bike for travel so many times to the extent that I even made a custom ba for carrying it in BUT it stills ends up being quite large to carry. Removable rear end will make it easier to get away with brinin the bike on trains in the future.

I really like a good foldable! That it's up-cycled is a big plus imo. What brakes are you planning on? I'm asking as I'm pondering a break away style bike with disc and currently thinking about maybe Klampers with splitters?

So far the plan is to use Sram Force Hydro shifters with the post mount calipers I had before. However, I was thinking of trying out these hydraulic line couplers: https://zenocycleparts.com/collections/q-connector-bicycle-hydraulic-quick-coupler that don’t require re-bleeding. I believe @Jaap has had some success with them.
Cable discs with splitters wouldn’t work so well as the frame uses full length outers so no easy place to add the splitter.

The way cable routing is done I do not think you need to detach the hoses

Ahh okay, sounds like Hulsroys plan has alot of merit. Oulufixed (on the gram) used the Zeno splitters for his foldable bike and ended up switching to Klampers. Still just one anecdotal evidence, I really want the splitters to work!

• #115
Ah good to know, did he have problems with the hydro splitters?
-
• #116
Splitters are still on my bike, no complaints. It worked perfectly when I packed my bike in a hard case for my last trip to Japan. Used them with DA R9270 though, not with SRAM.

I might have a titanium seatpost that could work for you, need to check clamp style when I'm in the workshop next time.

Poor quality build photos incoming….
It’s taken forever to find the parts I wanted for this build 2nd hand and not being in the same city most of the time hasn’t helped but yesterday I finally got this thing 90% built.
Bottom bracket came free with the crankset and before install I was a little dubious of the colour but I think it actually works nicely

Next up was a minor battle with the crankset. Seller included both 132mm and 137mm axles but with the former being the old cannondale style with the machined lip on one side. Settled on the 137mm but it needs a lot of spacers on either side. Even with the chainring being a 5mm offset I think the chain line will be too wide though. This could be fixed with a narrower axle because there is still a lot of clearance but I’m also not 100% sold on these cranks for this build.

For the seatpost @slothy came through with exactly what I was looking for, namely a Ti post with a little offset. I think the frame seat tube had a bit of rust build up so I tried to clean it out with some steel wool on a rod and it helped but the seatpost fit is still pretty tight. Maybe it’ll need to be properly reamed in the future but for now it works.

Headset has a little play at the lower bearing that I can’t seem to get rid of (any more pre-load and the steering really binds, any less and there is more play) which leads me to think that the head tube might need facing because of the new paint. Otherwise everything else went together really smooth.
Last jobs that couldn’t be done with limited tool selection are to cut the steerer, get a silver top cap, cut the rack struts, wire up the dynamo lights and fit the chain. Oh and bar tape which snapped midway on both sides during fitting (Condor stuff feels nice but apparently fragile).
Tyres are a little bit shouty but I had them already so they’ll do for now.

Rack is from Allygn and really well designed with every bolt you could imagine for fitting.

This was a late addition to the party, felt like fate to find someone local selling one 2nd hand in the exact length I wanted. They also sold me the King cages too.

When it’s fully complete I really need to find someone who can take some nice pictures of it for me.
I also bought a nice old Bernina 830 sewing machine so I can start making bags again. Starting with a front rack bag for this. Plan is to do a forward opening flap in a similar style to the Gramm diamond bag.
Cool. I'll check tomorrow but definitely not 70-80
