Agreed, and I don't mean to imply there's anything wrong with the method. Quite the opposite, it's how I would do it.
Just wanted to note that the CK headset comes with instructions specifying the correct dimensions and if the fork crown is oversized it'll need facing first. Or at least that facing it will reduce the frustration level.
