Helsinki Velodrome I visited.
Quite steep banking for a concrete track.

Bournemouth is pretty steep for a non-wooden track.

Is it still being used? Seems the american football pitch is better maintained.

I think it is.
The track itself is actually in good condition up close, although it's a bit discoloured from the weather.
I was there mid-week in October so didn't see anyone actually using it, which is to be expected.
I tried to get to the concrete stand built into the small hillside, but it was all locked up!The pavillion and track are architecturally really nice; modernist style built for the 1940 Olympics .
Helsinki in general was great for walking around and looking at buildings.

It seems like a long lap as well (400m!) I'm used to 200m here in Amsterdam. Lapping the peloton is going to make you go bonkers.

I've passed that loads of times, but never got the opportunity to have a look. Feel like I've missed out now, it's a great piece of architecture.

Great event also. Ally Wallaston, pictured in the black NZ kit, put up a clinic and got the overall Omnium win in the last sprint of the points race against a very strong Kate Archibald.
The men's Sprint and Madison finals were great, too.
My first time watching live track racing and seeing it at this level and this close was amazing. I could have literally touched the riders from the first row.

It's a great experience isn't it? There aren't many pro sports where you can get that close to theaction. Sounds like it was a good event.

Your enthousiasm sounds femiliar. Lovely track as well. Wish there were more races of that level in my hometown. The last sixdayswas 5 years ago or so.
