Buck teeth, glassy eyes, hairy legs, a bit chunky around the midriff. Yep, that's a sportive all right.

Maybe a polecat actually, which apparently thrives in the welsh borders, which i think from other threads might be where you are?

Nice of them to arrange the species into roadkill positions to aid Dicki's identification. I stick with polecat I think.

Yes, unless Dicki can return to the scene and measure the carcass, Polecat is most likely.
( Even this would be subject to age and gender variation).

I hope Dicki will make this small effort in the name of science and taxonomy.

Roadkill top trumps in all probability...

It is either a genuine wild polecat, or a polecat ferret, which is a common domesticated crossbred (originally) variety of said mustellid. Only a scientist could tell them apart.

Neither are good to eat, even by Welsh standards, so well left.

passed the location this afternoon but said mustellid had gone. the mystery will forever remain a mystery wrapped up in an enigma
