Does anyone know anyone who has a small disc (preferably) cross bike for someone (me) who wants to fuck around with an EBB and make it single speed?
Budget is very budget.
To set the budget: I saw a Kinesis frame set for £60 and thought “yes please”.Alternatively a sscx bike I could borrow for NYD madison would be great.

Well I hope the image made up for being held up a bit! Having run every other time, I thought it would be worth giving in to the peer pressure for the final lap. I was not disappointed.

Me too I'm probably just going to buy a frame and swap everything over from my Zero disc but keep looking at this great price not great colour. I guess the Tcx adv on here is over budget as nice as it is?

If they have your size, the Vitus frames is currently £800

The silver is quite nice I'm inbetween a small and medium in the Vitus but pretty sure I could make a medium work. This week they've knocked another 10% off the force and rival builds and the Donnely I like has just been reduced by £200. I'm keeping a close eye on the prices and with the current wiggle/CRC situation hoping the Vitus might come down abit more before they sell out 🤞

Looking for some veteran tips to n how to prevent my chain from getting rusty!?
Is two chains the solution? -
• #10262
Clean your bike.

• #10263
The cleaning it seems to be part of the issue, in that it dries slowly
-

dry the chain with a rag after washing. then lube it.
my cx bike lives somewhere cold so i always have to make sure the chain is dry. -
• #10265
Hmm. Maybe I need to move away from wax lube for the cross bike

i'm using squirt this year and it seems to be working quite well

Use cheap lube. You’ll need to clean, dry and re-lube your chain after every race (and training session) at this time of year. There’s no point using expensive lube.
I install a new cassette and chain at the start of every summer season, so use cheaper components here too.

While I'm here....
Eccentric BB. Does anyone have one just lying around doing nothing they would like to shift on? -
• #10271
I've been using fenwicks all purpose lube, works very well.
I also invested in a small Bosch builders blower to help dry the drive train and tubs after washing them post race or training. -

Asda sell cans of compressed air for cleaning keyboards. About £3.

This is better, saved me a load of time and effort as well as extending the life of my drivetrain
