  • I started doing this - albeit in a much more round-the-houses way. In the end I realised that I could find a lot of the stuff I wanted to rip on Spotify, and you can download playlists via various web apps. I’m sure the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired, but for messing around with, it serves a purpose.

  • I was thinking more obscure stuff that's not on Spotify. it's something I should probably do anyway as my vinyl is mostly just collecting dust and has been for many years.
I think if I bought a controller it would encourage me to actually record stuff and might bring back the joy of DJing using records I bought XXyrs ago.
I'd love a pair of turntables, but have absolutely no space for a dedicated set up.
also, I'm guessing recording the vinyl would maybe make it sound a bit more authentic, even though it's digital?

  • I’m not sure what kind of thing you mean, but I was amazed (appalled?!) at the kind of thing that’s on Spotify now. Pretty much all of my Turkish psych stuff is on there, as is most of the European prog/psych stuff.

I’m not sure I could really get in to playing out digitally, though. I don’t think my brain works in the right way - I need the visual cues of the actual records to flick through!
