Robert 953 frameset, 57.5cm, £700
I have had several Roberts frames over the years, this is the most complete and versatile one yet.
Stand out is the 953 tubeset, the frame is quite stiff for steel, not sure whether that is the stainless or the oversize 36mm downtube, probably both. Its always been a bit big for me, but fine ridden with a short stem. It was a lockdown project, but has become the bike I choose most often, cafe - audax - short tours allround use. ( I have managed to get another smaller one instead!)
In addition to usual Roberts finesse they have manged to get really good clearance maximising the use of mid drop brakes with guards. The image is with a a 33mm measured rear tyre between c-stays, leaves 4mm each side.
level top tube ~585mm ctc
seatube ~575mm ctc
headtube 160mm
chainstay 420mm
Paint is good but used, I have touched in all chips (no rust!). If keeping I would send back to Colourtech - but no real need to.
Includes matching USE Alien seatpost, and Chris King Sotto Voce headset, just serviced.
I added Thorn 853 steel forks, but I can swap the orginal Deda carbon ones back in if preferred (loses a chunk of weight and slightly reduces clearance)
