• Thats a lot less sophisticated than I thought. Oh well, thanks for the info!

  • agree to the collection and arrange to meet all of them at the same time, but give the address of the local police station?

  • Nobody else bid so I got a brake lever and caliper for £5, the seller has taken a week to drop it off at the Post Office…..Arrse

  • An update: received the Game Boy back eventually, tested it immediately and of course it worked absolutely fine, with both games. So responded to the buyer to say that I've refunded them, but feel like you've wasted my time a bit. And got the following back:

'Why would i lie? It only played the mario game and not the other for gods sake what is wrong with people. If it was working fine i would have kept the item. Not everyone is a lier. I could have gone to ebay first and complained but i did not. I could say you have wasted my time but why should i.

    kind regards'

Glad that's over to be quite honest. eBay at it's finest!

  • I like this very much. They already lost interest same day, but might do next time :D

  • I’ll paste what I’m going to send to a sale reneger, let me know if I’m out of line please.

“ So you wait until a second payment reminder, over 24 hours after a sale, to tell me the taxes (that you must have known about) are too oppressive and could I please knock them off?
That’s inane and dishonest, especially considering you’ve been an ebay member since 2007.
    Moving on.”

This was for CAD 88.40 on a CAD660 item.

  • I moaned about this above, its full of absolute cunts now.

  • Maybe a zoomer that didn't know about the old blowing on the cartridge trick. It's plausible that he just saw the famous garbled Nintendo letters showing up and assumed it was broken

  • Anyone had this error message before? I made an offer on an item, which was rejected. Then when I went to send my next offer, this error popped up, despite never having ordered anything from the seller before.

  • Probably salty and added you to a blocked buyers list 👍

  • Ha, I’d have to respect the flex. Wasn’t even a lowball offer tbh. But it’s allowed me to offer again (after a period of self reflection of course).

  • Bought a pump to fit the pegs on my Raleigh Twenny. Described as fully working, arrives and it’s got a big dent in the barrel that the plunger struggles to get past.

Well wrapped in bubble wrap inside a sturdy cardboard tube so definitely didn’t happen in transit.

    £5 man. £5!

Hope the dunt on your feedback score was worth that £5.

  • Flipping sold my SL7 and the buyer pulls out. Why are people so quick to make big offers and screw over sellers?
If anyone wants a S-Works SL7 61cm well below market value HMU!

  • Back to selling stuff on eBay after a couple of years away, when the item value fees come in? Losing 10% of the final price stings ALOT! Makes me want to start overvaluing everything so that 10% doesn’t cut into what I think it’s worth.
Makes me want to turn to Facebook marketplace and deal with that nest of time wasters and slackers to avoid the fees..

  • They've always had final value fees but they've also kicked out PayPal now and taken their cut too so it works out around 13-14% in the end total. You just have to wait until they have an offer. They don't really do £1 fees days any more but you can get 80% off weekends. You just have to check every friday

  • Just seen they’re doing the 80% discount thing this weekend, so am going to end all the listings and relist to get the benefit..

  • Just beware (if you're not already) that the 80% off fees only applies if the item sells within the first 30 days.
After that, the fees revert to standard.
Unless you have hundreds of items, as annoying as it is, you can just end listing / re-list every time there's an offer...

  • Also bear in mind that if it doesn't sell and automatically relists or you do a second person offer (or whatever it is called after the buyer has pulled out) you don't get the 80% off.

  • Thanks for the above, will keep in mind, I’m not paying the 80% so will probably just relist whenever they have a discount on.
The pace this is going will probably still have them up for auction this time next year..

  • The 80% off fees offer is given to active users (not sure exact requirements obvs) every 2 week on a Thursday thru Monday Midnight basis. I ONLY place ads in those periods.

If you end all your items, then relist in bulk when you have accepted the special offer terms, then the items do not seem to appear as new listings in the eBay search system. To do that you have to end all active listings, then go to your list of undold items, click on an item and select "Sell Similar Item". It will make a complete duplicate of your listing, pics and all, and relist it for you.. it will then show up as a NEW listing in other people's searches. Every time you do this, you will have to tell eBay if the item is new/used/etc.

As clear as mud, but I hope this helps, I learned it all the hard way !

  • Anyone noticing the increase of AI generated descriptions? They are quite amusing at times.

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355169666274?

  • I ended and relisted, but didn't go through the "sell similar item" malarkey, so hoping I get the 80% discount on fees and that people can still find the listings.

  • Firstly, ID? PHOTO ID!
I just about stomached the break up with paypal but I'm a little upset I had to upload my provisional (with out of date info on) to get my payout the other day, when I joined eBay in 2006. Sell all the time.

Which brings me to my next issue, as a seller.
Customer has received their items, one is damaged.
    Parcelforce carried it.
    Took a few redelivery attempts.

In my experience couriers are well prepared for this, they will be needing photos, proof of purchase, original costs etc etc.
Most of that is fine, I think I could find original costs (they pay whats cheaper in the end anyway!) and can deffo proof cost of this sale.
I've given the buyer a heads up that they will want photos and all that, I don't think what they have will do. They've taken a picture once at home not when it was delivered, they say.
Edit: they collected from the depot. They weren't allowed to open it there.

I don't think Parcelforce will refund me, I'm worried eBay will refund the buyer. Has anyone dealt with similar?

  • I've had that worry before but it seemed to count once it sold, which was nice because it was a whole bike, a little tag to tell you it's active would be appreciated though.
