What are you suggesting?
Musto is the 'working' equivalent of Rapha, no significant gains for double the price. The brand that put the 'cunt' into countryside, comes with free Tory party membership.
Goretex military surplus every time.

After destroying countless cheapo pairs of waterproof over trousers, I bought a set of these. Not breathable, but stretchy and infinitely better as a result.

I would say army or Helly Hansen.

Are those crazy railworker over trousers any good? I ask because I passed someone last night and the way they lit up when hit by my light made me think "that would be fucking radical".

I'm guessing it's a 'very hardwearing and waterproof' x 'boil in the bag' mashup.

• #507
Yeah my thoughts (but not prayers).

I mean, any clothing with 3M reflective strip on them will do that.

Boot glue/repair patch recommendations? My danners got snagged and opened up a hole. it hasn't broken the inner lining but I spoke with a boot repair who said the material is too frayed to stitch

I'd stitch and cover in shoe goo probably. It won't be pretty unless you're a zen master with your patience using shoe goo. Seems pretty lame that they wouldn't attempt a repair tbh.

Pleb is my vibe!
It’s only for 1 hour max tbh. I just like the reflective stuff. -
• #513
Yep.
I get that. Just seen one dude walking his dog in them twice this week and each time has been the same “that’s quite a strong reflection”. -

Could a local cobbler resole meindl airstream boots or am I going to have to bite the bullet and send them to meindl? I'm reticent to be without them for weeks and cough up the £110+ p&p

Hi-viz is two-part: the usually orange or yellow/green fabric and the reflective band.
The fabric improves your visibility in low-light conditions, by providing a vibrant contrast to the gloomy background. Being swathed in it, isn't better than a few strategically placed pieces: aim to break-up your silhouette in an unnatural, disjointed way.
The bands work when there is no ambient light (ie it's actually dark) by reflecting artificial, focussed sources. Ideally spread them out where they will be mobile: ankles, wrists and the head.
If you want to be seen, you're aiming to present the most unnatural, disjointed, incoherent profile possible.

I put off buying new safety boots for so long they discontinued the ones I wanted (Solid Gear Sentry Mid for the interested).
Frustrated I’ve just bought these as they tick the boxes - lightweight, mid ankle, metal free toecap and footplate.
£86 off eBay with code MAGIC8Anyone used Timberland Pro boots? My
Mate used to rate his old ones but that was donkeys ago.

Those Timberland Pros are hilariously bad. Sending them straight back.
Will probably end up with another set of Puma Cascades at this rate.

Maybe one for the fashion thread but any suggestions for some dandy but robust cargo/walking trousers with a bit of water resistance? Google is pushing middle aged i was never in the armed services but i respect what they do fashion vibes. Loose fitting, not so many pockets and navy would be nice.

Probably not dandy enough for this thread but I've found the Craghoppers Kiwi ones fine.

Hello all,
I no longer really need safety boots for actual working so I was thinking I'd treat myself to a jazzy pair that will last a long time for site visits and the like...
I was hoping to get some safety toe Dr. Martens, either Oxford shoes or 8-eye boots, I want something very classic but with the safety toe box ticked...
It appears they've discontinued their heavy duty line so would anyone have a lead on somewhere with leftover stock or else a really good alternative in that vein?
It's "Scilly", not "scilley" silly!
Gardening in sailing kit sounds pretty Scilly/scilley/silly too.thought they only did sailing gearI expect the balder of the two Colins has some experience of women's gardening clothes.
