I looked at the starting XIs and thought "we're fucked".

Don't know about your team but we took it pretty seriously.
Bloke i know who was at the game had this to say, wondered what you thought.
" Burnley were terrible. They're merely a vehicle for Kompany, a
vanity project, he doesn't give a shit about Burnley and whether
they'll survive. His kamikaze play from the back stuff worked like a
dream in the Championship but to not change it at all now it's obvious
they've been found out in the Prem strikes me as being a dereliction
of duty. He's advertising himself and his style for his next job, at
somewhere like Palace or Lyon or Betis. Burnley going straight back
down again will simply be collateral damage for him. So if any
aspirational mid-table team in Europe wants to watch pretty triangle
patterns between CB, RB and keeper, followed by a 50 yard hoof down
the line when they're pressed effectively, Kompany's your man. He
knows Pep, so you can't go wrong." -

We were probably playing a slightly weakened team but no-one knows what our strongest team is so who knows.
I can kind of see where he's coming from but I don't think the sacrificing Burnley part is really right if only because if we're shit all season and go down it's going to make it more difficult for Kompany to take that next step. He's also still learning, it was noticeable last year how he learnt from the cock-ups at the start of the season and we became more pragmatic as the season went on.
It's also missing the impact of the owners. It looks very much like they're thinking they can make loads of cash by signing lots of promising youngsters, increasing the value and flogging them on. As a result we have about a dozen nippy wingers in their early twenties and barely any steel in the team.
Fuck knows where we go from here. We don't really have the players to play a different style so it's going to take something innovative to get us going.

Birmingham away on Saturday.
Problem is limited allocation means it sold out quickly so we're in with the home fans.
Practicing Brummie accent, skepticism about Rooney, reminiscing about Forssell and Lazaridis.

Don't forget Christophe Dugarry!

I'd practice your booing as well. Should have plenty of opportunities to use it.
Great season for Ipswich. I'd love to see them back in the prem. -

Took the Wolves-supporting kid to Bramall Lane today for a lesson in last-minute heartbreak.

Ouch.
This Newcastle Arsenal game is needlessly spicy. Very little quality football so far

Feels like a good game for all other teams around them, plenty of possibilities for suspensions.

That sucks.
There’s a home ticket if you want one. Let me know.
We were actually good today. Super surprised.

Enjoying the Copa Libertadores … cracking atmosphere , flying tackles , loads of diving and cheating …. and some great South America fluent football skills - even sort of want underdogs Boca to win … or at least get the equaliser and then it all goes even more bonkers

Was hoping to see some liquid Diniz football but was always going to be a bit of a dog fight playing Boca. Nevin is complaining a lot, but actually enjoying the VAR official staying out of it.

Absolute carnage in extra time. Absolute screamer followed by a second yellow for jumping into the crowd. Another red for a slap. Boca playing one at the back. Marcelo crying.

Glad you made it out unscathed. Must have been hard to contain yourself!

It was everything that’s great about South American footy. Great spectacle.

Super game , over blown passion and emotions … super football - at times .. three top notch cracking goals … well done Fluminese , ( apart from Marcelo- obvs )
……needed more aggro ! -

Thanks - I will let you know but a mate is keen too and is good at hunting out ticket returns online so we may be alright.
Definitely need your pub details though!
Chelsea or Neverton? 🤡
