Well, it's supposed to mean we can learn the lessons from the past so we do better next time.
I'm not sure if any criminal proceedings can be taken on the back of the evidence from the enquiry, or quite how that works.
There are a bunch of different "modules" - we're currently in the second one which is focused on decision making of the government. General consensus being it was even more of a shit show than you could imagine - and we all knew it was a shit show in the first place.
The even sketchier bit for the Tories could be module 5 - presumably some time next year - when we get onto procurement and all those PPE contracts. Easier to prosecute corruption than incompetence.
