  • My partner went to use her sewing machine today and it was totally dead. The fuse was gone so I replace that and when plugged in the motor ran, despite the foot pedal not being pressed, there was an electrical pop and a burning smell. I took the motor cover off and switched it on again and the capacitor started smoking.
    So, I need a new one of these but don’t know what I’m looking at or what to search for

    That's multiple components in one package, not just a simple capacitor. Take it to your Bernina service shop and get them to advise whether it's available as a spare part, or there is a newer version which does the same job.

  • It's a radio interference suppressor / noise filter package. They are about £30. I can't find that specific model but if you have the sewing machine make and model then that might help.
