I'm a civil servant - all the juicy chat happens on Teams - which deletes after 5 days.
Is it gone for ever? Presumably it's archived somewhere. Our chat (corporate) has to be kept for n-number of years for audits

It's gone forever at my place (corporate). Policy is that anything that is required for audit trail should not be on teams.

Pretty sure it's gone forever. Checked a few different sources and some other departments data retention policies are published - they all say deleted between 15 and 30 days after posting with no reference to them being kept longer. You'd think if they were archived they'd want us to know...

Exactly. If the covid enquiry achieves anything it will be that these conversations go back to happening in a non dredgeable way.
