The whole metal thing is fucking strange.

We poke fun at one of our mates who is into death/thrash metal, particularly today (Halloween - devil worship, skulls etc).

In our group chat he has just sent us his Halloween viewing which was a group called Gorgoroth in concert in Krakow. They have sheep's heads on sticks and naked women on crucifixes, it is so Spinal Tap it is unreal.

He certainly is a meme. even if that time he got burgled he ended up trapping and torturing them for a bit, so he kind of walks the walk

He told us a story about a band who filmed one of the band killing another (in Finland?). They probably ate him as well.

yeah tbh that's not the most unsavoury stuff you'll find in black metal, though there is some actually great stuff too

Black metal is fucking rubbish. Edge lord bellwhiffs who take it too far for the sake of clout.
There is a good exhibition about it in the music museum in Trondheim, Norway though complete with silicone pigs heads and a display of the insanely ornate wrought iron mic stands that all the bands seem to have.

The murder case is pretty popular in true crime circles as well.

Loads of my mates are into that scene and go to bleak mosquito infested scandi festivals in the middle of nowhere.

I could be into the aesthetic, I could go the instrumental bit of the music but fuck me, the singing! I mean, is singing even the right word?
