  • Shame you didn't have one this week.

I have some of the older style Aldi rear light/cameras on most of my bikes (the new ones fall off apparently) and use chilli bullet cams on the front. All budget stuff but good enough to capture incidents and number plates not at night).

I am sure there are better quality alternatives, I will probably get a Cyliq fly rear when my Aldi lights give up the ghost (but they are still going strong after 5+ years of almost constant use).

  • Trackstanding front pizza rackenger with the small dog poking out of your ILE backpack last night at Bank.... thank you for making my night.

  • I have a very ageing fly6 on the back (fly12 died a while back)- did try a chilli bullet cam but it didn't come close to picking up numberplates even in daylight. Loathe to ride without a rear at least but gotta find the cash for one. Anyone use the Techalogic or Akaso cams?

  • I've been running an Akaso (Brave 4 Pro) for a few months now after several incidents where my rear camera (TOOO - also good) didn't catch the crucial bits happening in front.

I've been impressed so far. Picture quality is decent enough to catch number plates even in low light, and it has some nice features. Very easy to use.

  • So is the consensus that you need a front and rear cam?

  • I have front and rear, both Cycliq, and a helmet mounted GoPro. The helmet mounted gets great footage through car windows of mobile phones, which I usually can't be bothered to submit.

  • slow p**cture this morning developed into a full one on the way home.
thankfully next to a nice pub.
    be rude not to!

  • my wife got hit by a bus by the woolworth rd entrance to burgess park around 18:30-18:45, it pulled out without looking and while still indicating the other way. did anyone see this by any chance and have any info? she’s fine but shaken up. edit: this evening

  • I've been really impressed with the GoPro hero 9 I bought off here recently.
a bit more spendy than some of the other options, but the quality is really decent.
I posted a bit about it in the camera thread here https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/183209/?offset=1150#comment17156542

  • fuck, that doesn't sound good.
glad she's ok and hope it doesn't put her off riding.

  • Thanks, she got home and cried. the roads are prejudicial, it makes cycling, which is so great, an exclusionary thing for only the ‘fittest’/most experienced/ possibly stupidist enforced by the threat of injury or death.

  • Don't buses have lots of CCTV in them?

  • yeah hopefully.

I take it you mean the Walworth Road entrance? It's Camberwell Road by that point. Just mentioning it because it's important for the purpose of appealing for witnesses.

I hope she's not injured, as you say, but always be aware that some injuries can only become apparent days after the event. Best healing wishes, both from potential physiological and psychological damage!

  • thank you. and yes, noted. The stop the driver was pulling out from was 'camberwell road/albany road'.

  • Ah its awful to hear. I hope she is ok :(.

the entire section pretty horrible from elephant to camberwell green. I usually use the 'quiet way' route that's parallel to walworth- portland street / brandon street if she wants to look for an alternative.

  • thanks. as i say the bud was indicating in as it swung out and also attempted to overtake the bus in front when there was no safe way and no room. she said there was a point where she stopped, realising she was boxed in and had nowhere to go, and just waited for the bus to side swipe her. shudder. Dramatic enough already but, in this house, it really added to the feeling life would be better in spain/holland/etc. Also, if it had been me I’d have gone for the gap and been deaded.

  • This morning I was late for work so was riding ‘furiously’. Going down a bit of a hill, Garmin said 28mph, only to discover that the whole road was blocked ahead be a massive lake, sorry puddle. I put a bit of pressure on the pedals to slow down. BANG! the chain snapped, wrapped itself around the cog and stopped the wheel dead. Que huge skid and big splash. I stayed upright, but had to make The Call. I’m stood waiting for a lift as I type. At least it’s not raining at the moment.

  • had to make The Call

    For some fresh underwear?

Sounds incredibly sketchy, good job coming out unharmed.

  • Damn. Glad you're ok, dude.

  • i read the 'riding furiously' bit and then looked at the picture before reading the rest of the post.
briefly thought you'd managed to crash into a fence...

    well done for staying upright!

  • I’ve got to say it woke me up more than any amount of coffee would have.

  • Holymaloly dude! Glad you’re ok and everything survived.

  • Brighton undercliff, this section took some timing....
