  • Looks like something rammstein would wear.

  • How do they compare to neoprene overshoes?

  • Neoprene isn't sexy.

  • It feels a bit similar but there are a lot thinner, apparently these are made of a "high-tech" fabric of a combi of lycra and Kevlar...

  • Cycle in the rain probably

  • Fancy! So are they more to keep your feet dry than warm? Or do they both?

  • They are wind and waterproof, but they felt warm too.
I only used them for a few kilometers and its still 10 degrees here so I need to test them some more to be able to say anything useful...

  • poncho? they might be pish.

  • to uk14 which is what I need.

  • Big socks 😉

  • Haha!

  • Maybe a good bet for when it's wet but not super cold then? Or are they a bit boil in the bag?

  • Yes I don't think they are very useful on cold days. I'm not sure if Gripgrab makes thicker ones too... I actually expected these to be made of 'raincoat material' and didn't really look into it when I ordered them...

  • Yeah they're not for warmth but they're stretchy enough that I can usually sneak on an overshoe or toe cover beneath them

  • any forum approved overshoes for flat pedals, to wear over a pair of vans for example?

  • Bread bags mentioned up thread...

(adding comment because I am interested in the answer to this also)

  • Ah got you. Might not bother then, I've got some decent neoprene ones that do the job when it's cold and wet and waterproof socks and mudguards for when it's less cold but still wet.

  • I got some shimano ones a size too big and they're passable, very much commuter rather than roadie style, but they do the job and won't turn on any gimp fans with a foot fetish you ride past.

  • I don't wear overshoes, but I did get some MTE Vans for shitty weather days and they are much better.

  • i actually might be inclined to pony up for some waterproof shoes rather than overshoes as i FUCKING HATE!!! the faff of additional winter cycling gear.

  • Overshoes are just plain bad as a concept. I've tried them all, you still get wet/sweaty/cold after a while and they wear out quickly. Save the money and buy winter shoes.

  • They're useful for short, possibly wet commutes or journeys where you'll be wearing the same shoes to hang around in afterwards. Yesterday morning was pissing it down with rain forecast all day but the times I actually needed to ride were between showers, so overshoes and trousers were kept on my bike and I would've rather had them and used them than get wet for the 4 or so miles I needed to ride in jeans and skate shoes.

  • anyone had a go with the winter version of the velosambas? are they cold "rdy"?
