Listened to this podcast episode (worth a listen) over the weekend which definitely got me thinking i need to get off my Twitter habit although not sure if I'm quite ready to go off social media
Has anyone had much joy in tuning their Mastodon feed to get the right level of signal to noise?

Close. Choice of instance makes a big difference (and you can move). Choice of client also; some do better at organising the different timelines and giving options to combine some of them, if that's your thing. Tusky works well enough for me, at the moment.
Mastodon makes you work harder to curate your timelines, but that's part of the point.

I recently created a bluesky account and an (slowly) migrating across from twitter. At the moment it is quite pleasant (how twitter used to be).

Agree - everyone in my wider work circle has gone dark on Twitter and moved to Bluesky. There’s been an active ‘lifeboat’ operation with a handful of individuals properly organised and collecting and distributing the Bluesky codes - so hundreds moved over last week alone. It’s not quite as good as Twitter, but the critical mass is now there.

Any suggestions for Mastodon instances that's more info than memes and more left/liberal?
