5mm Cork coasters off Amazon, broken so there is only a smooth edge on the top and bottom, superglued on
I then cut out straight section of sprue and sanded the edges uneven, crating a hole in the cork wedged them in
Used modelling chain to drape over the post before supergluing it so it didn’t move
Placed some citidel skulls where I thought appropriate
All the empty bits of base and in the joints I covered with pva glue and then dipped it all in unfiltered sand, making sure to pva again and let dry
I then primed
Used a mid brown all over, picking out the post in a darker brown, the chain in metalics, the skull in skull colour
Went all over the base in agrax earthshade, paying close attention to the recesses, letting it pool if needed
Then mixed the skull colour and mid brown together for a lighter tone and dry brushed everything including the models feet/ capes/ dangly bits
Some pictures of unfinished ones, I don’t recommend breaking the top like I did for the test model, it makes making the model look natural far too hard, leaving it flat and applying a little sand is a far better work flow
