Sounds non ideal but yes, most long john cargo bikes, so long as kids are strapped in and have some side protection or are inside a canopy, they are fine, bike usually fine apart from bar end /lever damage and some new decorative speed strikes on the sides of the frame, drive chain and such basically can't touch the ground so don't get damaged!
In case you have ever wondered what happens when you crash sideways on a fully loaded cargo bike (Load 75) going at a decent pace, with a 7 year old and a 5 year old buckled in, I'm pleased to report that the kids were unscratched.
My left elbow and hip are not great, but don't seem to be broken. Bike also a bit scratched and bashed but seems ok.
