this wall of cider and perry at a cider festival today
some really obscure / old and well named cidersnone were for sale, just a display of stuff the cider makers had bought and kept
some pressing going on today as well
they had some delicious blended pear juice too. i can only imagine the perry tastes delicious once fermented. will go back for a bottle at a later date. was doing a bit of a cider crawl and already had a bottle before i tasted it at this venue.

Polly's Quinquennium Reserve today (from the stash)
Imperial stout, barrel aged in a Welsh whisky sherry barrel.
Nice, thick, a little fruity with a glorious aftertaste of sherry.
Quite tasty, pretty sure it was stupidly spendy, wouldn't seek out another but I think I may buy one if I saw it again (unlikely)

Popped to the new Dutch bar on the bermondsey beer mile. 13 out of the 20 beers are over 8%.

Sounds expensive and intoxicating

Wasn't too bad, stuck to a 5%. Although, they don't have the prices up which is worrying.

I got to try the BrewDog Black Heart stout out of a keg at a trade show yesterday, it was surprisingly good with the taste and consistency of a pint of Guinness pulled in a pub in Ireland, not a hint of gas. I’m not sure it will work the same out of a can, but at the price they’re selling them for on their website I’ve taken a punt, will report back.

We were on the Beer Mile on the weekend. Not doing it, just nearby so popped into Battersea Brewing's new "Substation". Guy in there (Steve?) was wearing Dodo jumper. Turns out he lives around the corner and was helping out at the local beer festival on Sat.

Yeah, I tried this the other week and didn't mind it. I rarely drink Guinness though so can't really compare them.

I now have my own beer

This seems to be the case in loads of places nowadays which is annoying with the wide range of prices.
I thought there was some kind of legal requirement to have prices up, always seemed to be the case when I was younger and the pub often had an A4 sheet tacked up by the bar.

On the subject of stouts, this is a larger stout mix, disappointingly underwhelming.

Ha this is a Baltic Porter, not a new beer style as they are claiming

Innit. That’s some serious grift from Pillars there.

I never knew that, a bit naughty of them then.

So back to the Black Heart stout, I tried a can tonight using the Guinness surge tap, nspired by this guy.

Was it better than out the keg? I couldn’t say. But it was very good.

Today at work one of the union reps was clearing old lockers. In one he found a 25 year old bottle of London pride wrapped in a copy of the daily express dated 1997. All the other magazines in there dated from '97. Although the guy only retired last year we reckon he had another locker so we think it's stood there since 1997.
Question is could it have matured or is it undrinkable?

I know their "vintage" editions are bottle conditioned so age well (can confirm the 2007 I drank last year was a delight)
Not so sure about a regular bottling.Easy way to find out

You didn't tag me but I still wandered in here.
I guess I felt like a pint after lunch :D

As a homebrewer I'm interested to see if it's drinkable so I'll probably open it at some point!

Probably oxidated but I'd definitely try it.
Triple Knot from Adnams is pretty decent.
Was surprised by the flavour as it was quite sweet, then read the bottle and saw Honey and Oranges all over the label.
Wish I had bought a couple.
