  • Hello all,

It’s been years of work, time and effort, but I have now sold up!

TheBromptonMan as a brand is sold, my buy and sell page is sold, Hobbs cycles is now closed.

I can only thank so many of you for the custom over the years and while it feels quite odd, it’s also refreshing to change completely.

So now I have opened precision plank, we produce campervan furniture and anything else that can be cut in a cnc machine, wood, plastics metal etc.

I’m not selling my tools, so if someone wants a wheel build or fancy custom bike I’ll entertain that, my email is also ported over to the new owner so just message on here.

    Thanks all!

  • Congrats on the move.

  • @Leshaches, @sbbohr
I didn't know one should get the Brompton first, then the child. I clearly did this the wrong way round.

Lovely work on the expanded families.

  • quick fix is to have another child

  • Good luck Ryan.

  • Like what everyone has said, congratulations and thanks for the wheelset after my carbon failure.

Kudos on the little one, mine is one month and looking forward to put him on the bike once his neck is strong enough.

  • Exciting times Ryan! Can’t wait to see what stuff you come up with!

  • Congratulations on the new venture.

Slightly concerned that I might have to try and deal with Ben at Kinetics if I need any thing doing on my Brompton that’s outwith my scope though!

  • More depth to this sale / it’s future coming soon.

I’ll still take in the odd thing from people I know, but really as a favour for fun than a business.

Might allow me to work on projects like getting cartridge bearings in a Sturmey hub..

    Sounds interesting!

  • Good luck mate , don’t be a stranger here tho giving advice.

  • I’ve got a ti seatpost which doesn’t have that little flared lip at the bottom to stop it coming all the way out. Has anyone had any success modifying a ti post to make it flared? Or taping something around the bottom to keep it from pulling out?

  • One of these

or I have just used duck tape in the past.

  • Needs the flare on the seatpost though

  • Congrats! Why on earth didn't I think of this? If you know how many chances I had to do this too! I've used mine for hospital runs when there's too much traffic. Also helps with the problem of not finding parking, and the cost of parking too.

  • Anyone got a long seatpost and/or a set of guards for sale?

  • I taped electrical tape around the bottom of my standard seat post before they made the insert, has lasted years and works just fine

  • I've got spare set of silver guards. Only thing is I think they're titanium stays

  • Does anyone have a Borough waterproof bag for sale? (the big navy blue one)

  • Ha! Sorry for not being more helpful but I genuinely don't know. First off, how do I tell if they actually are Ti?

  • Hmm, maybe with a magnet? Although sometimes stainless steel isn’t magnetic either. But, if they are magnetic they’re def not Ti
