Yeah, that's bollocks, most washers and dryers are pretty much the same dimensions give or take a few cm and there are loads of universal stacking kits out there.
We just bought a Hisense heat pump dryer as we've moved into a furnished apartment which had a washer but no dryer, washer is a different brand and there's no issue. Have to say I really rate the dryer it was 450 euros and it dries as well as the fancy pants miele one we left at our place in the UK. The main difference is that it's a fair bit louder than the miele but quietness was why I bought the miele in the first place, plus that one was a grand so very happy with the Hisense.
