Yeah, the 2018 race was properly grim.
Most courses are grim in December as the ground retains more water. The early season races usually avoid the thick mud unless we have a very wet summer. It's been very dry this autumn so I don't think Somerhill will cut up too much, even with the rain we've had the past few days.
Parts of it are sandy, but a lot of it is very muddy when it's properly wet. It won't be very wet yet though.
