  • is width an issue or height?

there are these guys too: https://www.brightonbikesheds.co.uk/

  • Ideal for home defence.

  • Thanks! Quite spenny, but potentially an option.

  • As per

    https://www.lfgss.com/comments/17099539/

We've just been given a 2-bike Asgard and have a practically identical front yarden.

Gonna plonk it there anyway as it just about fits. Possibly going to dig down a bit to reduce the impact it will have in blocking the window

  • That's at least the third forumenger it's done duty for.

  • It’s got a friend in my study, which I appear to have turned into the (a?) bike room.

  • Thanks. I may opt for the Asgard and “disguise” it with trellis due to my low front wall.

Provided your paving slabs are level, Asgard say that is a suitable base.

  • Bluum have done some custom projects where they've shoehorned shelters into small front gardens.

I got in touch with them for a bike shelter quote, and although they couldn't help me (the roof I want is too big for them to supply as self-assembly) their communication was excellent.

  • That looks like it could be ideal. Thank you! I’ll email them.

  • I've not got much wall space in the garage with cupboards and boiler taking up a lot space. But thankfully decent ceiling height.

Any opinions on a ceiling mounted steel structure to hang bikes from the saddle? Probably stick a bit insulation to protect saddle/seatpost.
Found a pic on Web, good idea or nah?

  • Hanging from the front or rear wheel will still take up less space than hanging from the saddle, if you've got the height and light enough bikes/big enough guns to hoist them up there.

But if you can find roof joists/something you are confident you can whack some massive screws into to hold up a bit of 2x4 like your picture, then hanging the relatively light static weight of a few bikes is not a problem. You could then just put a few of these in from which to dangle them

  • Need the space below usable. Hanging off the wheel will be too low.

  • get a couple of these screwed into the ceiling: https://www.diy.com/departments/rothley-ladder-storage-hook-pack-of-2/192539_BQ.prd per bike and then hang your frame over both with some pipe insulation for padding? then the space underneath is useable. thats what I did in my garage. theres different versions of hooks too

  • Also been looking for anything smaller than the Asgard for storing one bike in a terrace house front yard and I'm amazed there just doesn't seem to be anything made of steel and compact sized for a single bike.

There are a couple of Asgard's on the street already but I just don't need space for 2 bikes

  • These Cyclocs are really fucking annoying but I finally managed to achieve this after about 4 years of putting it off. Only took a 12mm drill bit and £15 worth of wall anchors.

I think I need to rejig the rotation on both of them as neither bikes sit right at the moment, but as a first pass, this is very pleasing to me.

  • Massive steering wheel in that.

  • Not sure if taking about the actual steering wheel or making a joke about the bike wheels

  • Oh just a terrible joke.

  • I guess this ironically qualifies for this thread? Long live tow bar bike racks

  • Hi. Anyone put a green/living/sedum roof on their Asgard shed? I’m getting the flat roofed 2-biker and have had a quote at £200 (delivered) that just seems a bit much. Also it relies only on the weight of the tray to keep it still? Thanks

  • How heavy/easy to dismantle are those Asgard 2/3 bike sheds?

Thinking of putting one in the back garden at the moment (won't be using the garden much during the winter and the front needs sorting out before I can put it there) but wondering how easy it would be to then move round the front in the spring?

Also, anyone got one of those 2/3 bike sheds they are looking to sell?

  • I've done it once when moving house - it was ok, probably easier than building it from scratch as you don't need to dismantle it quite as much.

Looks like a job for 2, and approx 2 hours

About a 2 hour job. Make sure you have an electric screwdriver. The
only thing I struggled with was removing the hydraulic lifts. I called
Asgard who were very helpful. Basically you have to het a screwdriver
under the silver clip and lever it off. Do this under a cloth or
something as it is likely to ping off and you’ll spend a while trying
to find it. In my case this took quite a lot of persuading, clipping
it back on the other end was a bugger too. Thinking about the wooden
base was a little awkward to get out on my own but manage it with a
    crowbar.

Would be made a lot easier with another set of hands

I had a big a3 envelope for the parts, and wrote out the dismantling
order on it as I went. Drawing around the appropriate screws so I knew
which fasteners were for which step

Built up fine at the new house

  • I need something to put my steel road frame with the wheels off in under the bed for the winter as it’s too valuable to put in the shed.
Those bike sock things seem to be for hallway storage with wheels on.
Is there anything out there for this?
