  • I dream of being sacked sometimes

  • *sacked in Germany

  • Yeah, employed and taxed to buggery for years so i need to get down the agentur and see whats up. Start the paperwork tsunami! I am literally just finishing my MA, hopefully i can have a couple of months to spend more time bouldering and riding and then find something fun to do

  • people have said this to me. Would be much nicer to be made redundant with some months salary but I am going to put the german welfare state to the test!

  • You will get 60% of your salary for one year.
If you're lucky you get a nice Sachbearbeiter and they are supportive.
I get 300€ Gründerzuschuss on top to start my own business right now.
And yes, getting the paperwork piles started early is good. Quite some stuff almost works online, but prepare for a lot of letters.

  • Nice to hear, and yes, I am getting my binders ready for the deluge! I have heard good things tbh, seems like I can get on some courses too so fingers crossed for a winter of learning!

  • My course was surprisingly good, founder training two times a week with (partially) really good info and some nice one to one.
The sketch one my partner got after her visual design degree a few years ago was watching video tutorials, was definitely not worth the trip twice a week.
What I am getting at: ask what the course really is, so you don't have to travel for videos you could also watch at home.

  • Anyone in Berlin got a Cannondale SI lock ring removal tool I could borrow?

  • I think I have one of these at home, let me check later

  • That looks right! Send me a PM if you find it, Thanks!

  • Can I join the queue for the Cannondale tools? Ideally I'd also wanna borrow the extractor if you have them.
@sorethroat, wasn't aware you are also in Berlin. That spesh(?) Klunker you posted in the other thread looks well tasty.
@SoYaap, you also 'ere? Wanna take a gander at the @Hulsroy awol special when it is finished!

  • Danke I only just finished rebuilding it in September. In mudguards and completely filthy rn.

Been here for 3 years now. Very fond of the place.

Also sorry @SoYaap @Rodolfo, I can't find the extractor. I'll try and muster the energy to go through my Keller.

  • Yeh at the moment I'm only here intermittenly (GF works here, me in Zurich) although as of next summer I will be re-locating full time. Definitely keen to show off the AWOL when it's done!
As for tools I have put in a bid on ebay for a used set of both the extractor and lockring tools but they're in the UK. So not available immediately. Also if anyone has a need to borrow other tools I do have a bunch e.g. cassette removal+chainwhip pliers, T47 BB spanner etc. Just send me a message.

Yesterday I also smuggled my workstand on the train with me.

  • When the sun comes out we need to do another get-together again.
Also off the bike for the foreseeable due to a pesky broken bone in my elbow that is not healing the way it should.
Can tinker though, and begrudgingly newly single with newfound independence my formerly shared apartment is now filling up with bike parts pronto. Bought a job lot of 16 26" tyres at the weekend FCS.
@sorethroat, no hurries my end. Still hoping that kleinanzeigen bsc30 BB shows up to measure up the axle length I'ld need.
I am coming up to ten years almost already.
@SoYaap, yes, keen for the showoff, and as per previous sentence no hurries with the tools.

  • Where does everyone live? Everyone I know lives east (or Wedding), which is sad because I'm out west.

  • Ah fuck, heal up fast, bones and heart!
If you want to grab a sterni lmk!

  • Definitely up for a beer, good or bad weather

  • <3
No sterni for me, even if I would be able to drink it.
On NSAIDs for a month at least.
Now on straight tonic. Good substitute for the alcohol taste.
@sorethroat, I am in the a very eastern tip of the former west too; Reuterkiez Neukölln.

  • Sorry for getting your hopes up but I can't find the extractor.

On another note, if someone is feeling patient, I've nearly given up on my old Shimano cantis. I'll provide some beers if someone wants to set this front brake up. I honestly think it's broken. Never had a problem with cantis until today. Never got what all the fuss was about with tricky setups. Now I do.

  • No worries my end, I caved and got the orient express runnin'.
Passing on the canti's, ain't nobody got time for that..

  • I know I have it somewhere but it's such a small bit that I'm pretty sure it's got muddled in with other stuff in various toolboxes.

I actually did it in the end!
