  • Oh yeah I see upthread you mentioned it. I'm really looking forward to seeing.

  • Didn't get around to going to see The Creator as it was lashing it down, we watched No One Will Save You on fmovies, very entertaining!

  • This popped into my head today. I have to find it and give it another watch. Remember it being brilliant and is still clearly very obscure. Not in print or streaming.

    Edit: on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/120042547

  • Finally got around to watching American Psycho, taped it on Film 4 a month ago. Sick humour yuppie satire horror ticked all my boxes, Christian Bale was excellent, you can see he’s having fun playing the role.

  • Finally watched Talk to me (2023) last night.

I had heard it was really scary but I didn't think so. I really enjoyed it, it didn't feel like another horror story I've seen before but I don't think it's as groundbreaking as some people seem to think.

  • A shite ending of Top Boy sent me on a Barry Keoghan rabbit whole which ended up with me watching The Killing Of A Sacred Deer tonight.

  • He is fantastic in The Banshees of Inisherin. Did a good job in Sacred Deer too

  • Great film. If you haven't seen them already, The Green Knight and Calm With Horses are worth a watch if you're on a Barry Keoghan streak. The Banshees of Inisherin as mentioned above is excellent as well!

  • The Continental
Not sure here or in Television, but feature film length so...
Prequel to the John Wick films. Done in the same style, same attention to detail. Maybe more dialogue, especially of the lead character. Three parts, none of them wasting time on any part of the story. Really get a feel for the characters. The baddies are superb, sorry to say, especially Mel Gibson.
If you like stylised violence with a great soundtrack and track list...Would Recommend

  • Finally watched Where the Crawdads Sing.

    What a great film.

  • Critics hated it which put me off but i've heard a few people say they enjoyed it now. Really liked DEJ in under the banner of heaven so perhaps i'll give it a go.

  • I've got one more to watch but 0100am was a bit late to start it. Enjoying it mostly, there's the odd bit of janky background CGI, 6 shorter episodes would've probably been better.

  • Gen V is very good though.

  • there's the odd bit of janky background CGI

Hadn't noticed, but on rewatch can see. Think they have used the saved money for extensive fight scenes. E3 has the best of its type.

  • Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning this afternoon,, usual nonsense save the world plot but very well done fast paced action throughout so an enjoyable watch. Tom Cruise is starting to look middle aged

  • Sisu - good old fashioned mindless violence against Nazis.
    What's not to like.

  • I really enjoyed watching an old cop movie with an unlikely cast, an overweight Stallone is a New Jersey cop patronised & exploited by corrupt NYPD officers. Copland. Outstanding acting, even from Charlie Sheen. About a dozen Sopranos cast member in it.

  • On Netflix, really enjoyed Apollo 10 1/2 with my lad.

A Linklater Rotoscope movie…huge wonder years feel. Just mellow wholesome fun

  • You might enjoy Red Ghost Nazi Hunter. Stumbled across it on Prime ,and a Russian war film in the style of Sergio Leone/Clint Eastwood westerns, right down to the music and the hint of the supernatural, was not what I was expecting to find.

  • watched atlantics last night, so brilliant, amazing to pair with the Ngugi wa Thiongo I've just finished - The Devil on the Cross (sorry for the lazy unchecked spellings). neo-colonialism doesn't change!

  • I went to a BFI film festival screening at Curzon Soho last night. Great cinema.

I didn't know what I was going to see until it started, a yearly tradition with one of my mates, he's seen 30+ films this festival.

The film was a horror, Late night with the Devil: https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/late_night_with_the_devil

I really enjoyed it, I wanted more gore though.

  • I watch a low budget but well made zombie thing last night called the Battery, it was on one of the streaming things, maybe prime. Worth a watch with some funny bits.
Watched Amsterdam earlier today, much higher budget considering the cast, but good fun apart the from whole rise of fascism thing that's on it's way round yet again.

  • Somehow I ended up seeing Soldiers of Fortune (2012), which is for free on youtube. Christian Slater as the action hero and a whole bunch of well known cast (Sean Bean for one), but what a terrible production. Had fun watching it though. Makes you wonder if the crew had fun as well, they must have known they were working on the C-est of movies.

  • Heat 2 in the pipeline

  • did a john wick quadrilogy this week
hmmm ..... none are great films, gets a bit samey after the 2nd
by the 4th began to forward through the boring repetitive long fight scenes
why does he always fight at some big fancy discotheque, where nobody seems fazed at people being axed in the head and gunfire galore the dancers just keep dancing feet away from the action. he manages to sneak in fine and dandy right to the protagonist but then decides to walk out in broad daylight through a supremely guarded posh building, why doesn't he take the quiet unguarded way out.
it's good at showing lovely buildings and interesting venues and you can see it's either based on or setting the scene for a computer game.
