  • Is Was that Evans in Peckham?

  • East Dulwich

  • Yeah we noticed that today. Any idea what happened? Other than Mike Ashley?

  • Evans Cycles Dulwich, sudden closure.

  • Just that they closed without warning, and any assest is gone and now boarded up.

  • With all rented property assets, there's a lot happening in the background with the owners / portfolio managers who want to maximise their returns.

All of this unrelated to the business run at ground floor.

That building (and the resi block to the left) has been doing the rounds in the planning / built environment consultancy world for about 10 years.

  • Velorution will be entering liquidation.

  • Not a London shop, but I was saddened to see Harry Hall Cycles in Manchester is closing:

I spent many, many happy hours in there when I was a student in Manchester, and used them a lot when I was working in the north west after graduation.

  • Its a shit show right now, shops closing all over UK very quickly and suddenly.

Myself am shutting down and leaving the UK but for other reasons. My shop was mechanic focused and just mad in demand all the time with no sign of letting up, but anyone who is retail focused is in a very difficult situation this year, and it will continue.

  • Not selling up?

Love your place and would thought there'll be takers for it.

  • I know it's not a shop nor in London, but anyone know who this is? Saw the notice on a liquidation sale site.

  • Well my local one is doing a gofundme, after they lost electricity for 3weeks.
Help them get back on their feet here

  • Could be field as they have done nowt for a year now .
    https://www.scotbycycles.co.uk/ is also closing.

  • Moose Cycles in Colliers Wood, one of the best mountain bike shops in London is slowly closing down, probably shutting in August. Great shop, we’ve had at least eight Mtb or Cx bikes from Greg over the years as well as lots of servicing and a real loss to the area.

Big bargains on the remaining stock

  • So Moose is now closed after 27 years , not sure where there is a decent shop in the SW london / Wimbledon area now.

  • Apex Cycles at Clapham has closed.

  • Was that a "closed for refurbishment"* that became permanent?

    *per their website

  • Woolsey of acton also closed after several decades of serving the community.

  • Just dug into this further, change of ownership.

  • Not London but my fav bike shop closing, went to the fire sale - a bit sad, had a chat with the proprietor and wished him all the best and thanked him for the many times hed helped me out. Picked up a brand new track front wheel (unbranded) and a nice pair of almost new wheels (shimano tiagra / omega mach1) with brand new tyres (panaracer paselas) - not cutting edge but good enough for me and got the lot for £30. Felt almost guilty, like a grave robber

  • The Bike Project's physical shop in Camberwell is closing, just had an email.

  • Had an email from Donhou - closing up their (Greek) shop and ending production of frames.

  • Prolly old news but Pankhurst cycles in Pangbourne now gone.

Makes no sense to run a retail store atm.

  • This is sad news. Didn't get the email; does it go into detail?
