New folks on my road paid 750 for their place, its barely done up, like of paint, no extension and no loft.

And brass not gold, happy to capture the decor zeitgeist for a whole 6 months, it’s downhill from here on.
At least there was terrazzo here which unfortunately we couldn’t keep.Architect neighbours from 2 floors below asked if we went to Diespeker in Chelsea for the replacement terrazzo windowsills, they were quite surprised when I said it was from a trading estate in Beckenham and quartz.

How is this still happening? I thought the arse was meant to have fallen out of the overheated London areas… Aren’t people’s mortgages £5K/mo now also?
-
• #8205
Yeah I have no idea. We bought agggesssssssss ago so our mortgage isn't as much, I guess everyone else did too to these price increases are just imaginary money no one ever really sees?

LOLCANO.
P.S. unfinished brass fanx.

That parquet floor looks like I made it in SketchUp, as does the rest.

Our bathroom is nearly done.
It turned into:
- New bathroom
- New fuseboard and full rewire upstairs
- New radiators upstairs
- Loft boarding, new loft hatch and ladder
- Two chimney breasts removed
- Doors rehung
- Replastering
It kind of makes sense - I think with every trade that came we had a "while you're here, would it make sense to...?" conversation and it probably was the right time to do it all.
Upstairs may be done by the end of the year.
Then we can start the real work.

I've been watching this one drop by about £50k/week (obviously with new adverts). It's massively overpriced for the street.

I'm probably way out of it, but for that money couldn't you live in Angel/Highbury near some decent connections?

That kitchen. Ignoring aesthetic decisions, it's nicely done (from an execution perspective, and probably cost too). But so very badly thought out.
-
• #8212
Couldn't have a more badly laid out triangle if they tried.
That would drive me absolutely nuts.
Obviously not a problem if you just get deliveries or eat out the entire time and never actually cook.

Just so generic inside some nice bits but so much is samey samey now, but fucking hell wild money in London still.

Connections are pretty good, a couple of trainlines, a tube and loads of buses within a ten minute walk. You can be in the City or West End in half an hour.
Something like that in Angel/Highbury would probably be edging £2m though.

So there is such a thing as too much herringbone.

• #8217
Badly thought out is putting it mildly.

oh god - alllllll the faux paneling

Anyone got any neat suggestions for a door stop to stop this cupboard door hitting the rad?
The rad is just hanging right now, so can be removed.
(I'll be removing the handle for a push catch)

Lol.
Sorry I should have included in the brief that anything touching the floor is absolutely forbidden.
While this is probably the best option, I dread to think what might happen if I suggested it.

Put a stopper on the ceiling then

Some sort of internal retention on the inside? Worst case two eye loops and some string
