Cheers.
I'd say I hate finding spelling so difficult. I've got a new phone and haven't set the keyboard up. I'm constantly reminded of how bad my spelling is with the endless autocorrects to Americanized spellingz.

Also, when people spell definitely as defiantly.
-
• #23429
They're doing it on purpose and they don't care what you think

It's a nightmare confounded by predictive text which lets you down when you need it most by inserting something wholly inappropriate.
-
• #23431
I see what you did there!
-
• #23432
That is possibly even worse

• #23433
I genuinely thought this was what the original bitch was when I first read it.
That's actually what I was asking - how do you remember the spelling for definitely vs defiantly?
-
• #23434
That’s pacifically the worst.

Hired a zipvan once to help a (now ex) girlfriend move flats. Only did it because the pick-up location was about 100m from the flat she was moving from. Never again.
The previous user turned up about 3 hours late, during that time, we kept contacting Zipcar and they contacted the user who kept telling them they were 5 mins away.
When they did finally get back they threatened me with physical violence and kept mumbling that when you hire a van anywhere else you have it for a day. However, he didn't hire it somewhere else. Cnut.

We use Zipcars once or twice a week since getting rid of our car. I'd say it's been about 90% reliable, we've also had:
- Late returns (as mentioned above) or car just not there at all
- Car so low on fuel (you're supposed to leave at least 1/4 tank) that I was worried I wouldn't get to the petrol station 1/2 mile away
- Fuel cards missing 25% of the time - I don't mind, I pay myself and it takes ~2 minutes to submit a fuel claim and I get cashback or air miles out of it
- Dirty cars (internally) - again rarely an actual problem but it takes me time/effort to clean it so that the next person doesn't have a bad experience
I just get good at complaining to Zipcar and getting driving credits, makes it cheaper for me in the long run.

They sound different when spoken aloud.

You just know what kind of cunt this guy is. Thinking he makes the rules and he'll threaten anyone who suggests otherwise.

I'm a reluctant Zipcar user because they're a bunch of chancing crooks. But in central London, it's handy.
I report the slightest thing wrong with each car I pick up just in case I need to have the conversation where I have to say "to be clear, you'll see from my pick-up report that it was like that already". And best case is that it often results in credit.
It's rude AF to leave a dirty car or empty fuel tank for the next person. Honestly, some people.

Defiantly!
There their they're

The latest changes to the app are relatively good, you use it to submit photos (inside and out) when you unlock it. Has saved me from a couple of problems (along with taking loads of photos at the beginning and end of each booking).
An annual Rental Car Excess Insurance policy also helps, as I can avoid paying for the extortionate version that Zipcar provide.
The most annoying scam with dishonest Zipcar users is people damaging the car, then writing in the damage log (with a faked report number) but not actually ringing it in and owning up. It's then a random person in the future that ends up getting dinged, or Zipcar having to take the hit themselves.
Given I typically rent one of two or three local Zipcars each time I know the cars inside/out pretty well and am able to spot any new damage and calling it in even if it's written in the damage log - just in case. That's how I found out about this, I rang it in to confirm and they had no record of it.
People really are cunts.

I hate the fact there's nothing like zipcar that's viable up here in mcr. We have enterprise nearby but at the costs and reviews online it immediately makes tatty old car ownership look cheap once more.

news article that cite "X, the website formerly known as Twitter"
If they insist on the etymology then they should use "X, formerly Twitter, formerly Twttr"I think I would be happier if they said "X, found at twitter.com"

Or twitter.com?

Absolutely!

Maybe controversial but I hate the design of “that” smoked paprika tin. I’ve got one particular teaspoon that’s thin enough to prise open the lid and then I have to use the teaspoon to get some smoked paprika out, because if you shake it out you get loads in the flat space around the opening.

• #23449
Ha, I know exactly what you mean. But it's never bothered me. It's like a throwback to the old Golden Syrup tins which were a total messy pain in the bollocks.

They still are!
My trick is to remember that definitely contains the word finite. I don't know if there's a trick for definately as it isn't a word.
I will though not opine on the spelling of separate as it is my Waterloo.
