  • I don't think this car is anything special, but the bright happy color and the soft top do it for me. It's just a small and forgotten Punto from the 90's, but it shone oh so bright in the city nightlife

  • Great little cars and bertone built.

  • Reminds me of the peugeot 205 roland garros. Lovely car that punto.

  • Look at that. From rust to radiant. All I needed was some natural light...

  • On a 90s young man's holiday in Corfu my friend crashed what we were told was 'the only Fiat Punto cabriolet on the island' into a stationary bus. Csb

  • You have a miniature mangusta? 🙌

  • I raise you reversing a punto cabriolet, with the roof down, in to a multistorey carpark pole. And getting the dent directly in to the center of the boot.

    We measured.

  • got swiped by a lorry on a motorway on friday, no injuries, reported to admiral

admiral have nominated a repairer who said the earliest they can take the car is december

went back to admiral who said the only alternative is to find out own repair, pay for it and claim back, which from my understanding is going to result in a lot of headaches around what and how much is covered .. how do i tell admiral to just find me another shop? they seem like they dont want that.. but also i cant wait till december

  • Double question, the damage is cheaper to repair than i expected, can i cancel a claim and keep my NCB?

  • you've already told Admiral you've been involved in accident, so they will most likely fuck you over with you renewal quote whether you continue with the claim or not.

But yeah, if you dont claim you should retain your NCB, but the fact they now know you have been involved in accident (your fault or not), will likely have a bigger impact on your renewal quote than losing your NCB.

Give an insurance company an opportunity to be cunty, and they will 100% be cunty.

  • From experience this year with my renewal quote, Admiral will absolutely try to screw you on the renewal regardless so you might well be moving insurers in any case. I don't think you'd have to tell the new insurer about any non claiming incidents

  • In my experience the new insurers question will be "any accidents, regardless of fault?" plus they will know anyway. It's sort of an integrity test. If you fail that they'll fuck you over.

  • I keep coming back to an impact bumper 3.2, ‘80s 911. $215,000, which I don’t think I’d lose any of come resale- and if I got it a longer ticket I’d expect to get that back on top.

But- 45 days maximum driving per year.

Now, I’m pretty sure that in recent (UK) years I spent nowhere near that driving my 996.

It would work out to using it once per week, given time out of the country.

Vintage cars are hugely cheaper than modern stuff- so running costs would be much lower, although I imagine Porsche servicing will be Porsche servicing.

  • What do?

  • (Imagine it with an Enduro bike on the roof).

  • Five grand a day sounds like terrific value.

    Do it.

  • What does

    Depreciation = $26,240 mean?

Is that something you can write off on your tax bill?

  • I know very little of cars, but 80s 911s are very nice to look at.

  • The answer to that in the UK would be "fuck no" but maybe different overseas...

  • Agreed, whether you repair it yourself or get Admiral to pay, your premium will go up and probably by the same amount (ignoring the NCB for a moment).

NCB themselves aren't worth very much - if you go onto a comparison website and run the numbers with and without it'll probably be less <£100. I'd get them to fix it, although push for sooner than December or courtesy car?

  • thanks..

the car is driveable i just dont want to wait till december.

    • £350 excess, courtesy car wait till end of november (bumped a week) - lose NCB
    • £475 quote from a repairer directly, theyll do the repairs from my driveway - keep NCB

feel like it might be worth the risk to just do the latter

  • I'd do the latter. You can also get them to do any other detailing jobs that are needed.
