I rode the Erzgebirge Stoneman thing this weekend. Great fun, bike performed brilliantly, the bags weren’t too shoddy either. Some prototypes, some long term testing, good times.
Upgraded the cockpit with some carbon SQlabs bits, those inner bar ends aren’t fantastic aesthetically speaking but they offer some welcome relief. 74cm is a better width for me, I should have cut the alu bars long ago.

More bike riding yesterday, I suppose I'm trying to get a couple in before autumn takes over. 140k of a mix of gravel and paved surfaces, one would think the Hulsboyke wouldn't be the ideal bike for it but it can do anything it seems. SQLab inner bar ends are a god send, strong rec. And the Mezcals roll well enough to keep up with the gravel crowd.
The cost of living crisis was far away for a day, all pictured meals were included in the €25 registration fee!
I also spotted a bag of mine hung on the wall of the bike shop that organised the ride.

Absolutely bonkers

Look like old schools from the heel but I agree with the sentiment.
Food looks pretty nice is it all veggie? Hulsbike looks great bagged up - is that a new experimental seat pack?

Nice ride and good food!
No pictures of the bike however?!

Yeah with laces, so basically cheating.
It's actually a production bag, you can order it today for €47,50 via 1-800-WIT SLINGERS.

A good bike disappears under you.

Already moved production to China?
Impressive! -

As seen in the big guy's thread, now in square crop.

Haha square crop is more intellectual
-
• #942
I'm not sure, I only do square because of the 'gram.
-
• #943
It is scientifically proven that square is perceived more intellectual. Something to do with medium format photography. Can't remember the details

How do you like that SQ labs saddle? You’re an SMP guy otherwise right?
-
• #945
Yeah I've been on SMPs for ages but I haven't been getting on with them recently, so when I was offered the squab stuff I figured it was worth a go. I've kept it clean for the show so I've done a grand total of 2.7km on it now (and with a heavy duffle on my back which also skewed the measurements), a bit early for any grand conclusions.
The cutout seems good, but I have the impression I'm sliding forward because of the hump that's supposed to keep me in place. Maybe I need to angle it slightly. I'll report back when I've put some miles on it.

I like a Romin which has a similar-ish shape with the slightly raised back. Works much better angled up very very slightly!

The old SKS guards on the Eroba are beyond dead, so when €40 Honjos turned up I couldn't resist. I then learned they come undrilled so they've been put away waiting for me wanting to spend a day fettling. Any and all tips & tricks for fitting the guards are appreciated.
I've also bought a rivet gun so I can fit some (three to be precise) flaps. And so I can put rivnuts in the white frame. Instead of brazed in bosses the frame was flow drilled and tapped, too lightweight a solution for my cacky hands.
Oh and I have a (black) 32t chain ring for the 🐊 but my puny arms couldn't undo the crank bolts tightened by a certain danish fellow twice my weight. I'm also looking to replace the 10-45 cassette with a 10-51, that was a bit of a false economy mistake.
All in all things aren't going my way with bikes atm.
On the upside I quite enjoyed last week's Mysore yoga class and I'll do that once or twice a week for the foreseeable. And I'm planning on buying some running shoes come Black Friday (it's not unhealthy consumerism if it's premeditated, right?). If I keep both things up all winter I'll be in better april shape than ever before.
