Certainly worth more unopened than in a glass....hold out for a buyer who wants a run of unopened bottles or something. don't open it and drink it. It's more of an ornament than a wine thing really.

Cheers - I’m not an expert and have very honest about its not being stored in whatever the optimal condition would be - French 18th century wine cellar with a constant temperature, humidity and low light levels perhaps. Some say it will be fine to drink, some even that it may well be delicious and an equal number suggest a fair chance it won’t be particularly tasty. Re the label, again no expert but I have some 5-10yr bottles of wine in the shed with similarly tarnished and mouldy labels from which the wine is perfectly delicious. It’ll piqué someone’s interest no doubt, whether to drink, collect, display or use as paint stripper

I had half a dozen bottles of Veuve, which were around 20 years old.
They weren't very nice to drink. I just about stomached them, but they made a friend ill. -

1966 you say? Just fire up the AI and replace this tatty cup with your bottle

Sorry to hijack this thread, but seeing as it seems to be attracting people who know about this sort of thing... we have inexplicably ended up with an unopened bottle of 'Lady Gaga Dom Perignon 2010' (I have nothing against Lady Gaga or expensive Champagne, but am not hugely excited by either). Anyone know the best option for selling this? Anything else I'd just stick on ebay, but obviously not an option here.
(secretly hoping some Lady Gaga/Champagne fan will stumble across this and PM me with a generous offer)

Harrods are still trying to shift some bottles @ £230 which is cheaper than the non-Gaga 2010 vintage for £295 @ Threshers

So the Gaga branding actually devalues it.
Still not even sure how we ended up with it. Probably some sort of work freebie at some point.
I guess I just need to find someone who bought a bottle from harrods and drunk it and still has the receipt...

Gaga branding good for press releases and promo Youtube videos, not good for people who actually spend £300 on bottles of fizz.

Which probably goes some way to explaining why we've ended up with a bottle for free.
I guess people who spend £300 on fizz aren't the kind of people who are looking to save £70 on the same drink with different branding. -

I ended up watching too many videos on aged wine after reading this thread the other night. I don’t even drink wine.

Ha, like once seeing a random clip of a vet treating a bovine hoof abscess - glued to it and now one of my main interests
