  • Love the Vosges. Long climbs around 10%, great food and drinks and close enough to
    (my) home for a midweek of fun. Rains a lot though, so cross your fingers and bring fresh brake pads. Steep descents and many corners make it tricky with full carbon clinchers.

    When I used to go regularly to the Lac Blanc bike park I'd always stop at the Auberge Gazon du Faing on the way home. HUGE portions, good beer.

  • Yeah a mate melted one of his Roval clinchers going down the Planche de Belle Filles as there were loads of spectators walking down after the stage finish and he was a bit nervous about hitting one of them. I managed to get on the rider train and rode down with Dan Martin who, unbeknownst to me had just finished second to Aru and told me his “legs were absolutely fucked”. They had whistles so spectators were getting out of the way sharpish
