Agreed. And swearing properly.

It could be the foundation of Rishi Sunak's new English Baccalaureate.
Instead of teaching Maths-averse 16-18 year olds String Theory, open their eyes to a practical example of string practise. -

Velcro ftw

I used to be a Scout Leader and a lot of 6,7and8 year olds couldn’t tie laces because they had only had Velcro shoes.

I've been double-knotting mine since forever.

I hate lip filler / plastic faces. Some people must find this look attractive though, right? Just grosses me out.

I also hated something else but I've forgotten what it was.

A niche one but ISBN 10s.
With the much easier to work with ISBN 13 why do some places (mainly Americans) persist in using 10s?

... flying. Again.
Is there anyone here with insight and/or inside knowledge?
Despite hating flying, I have flown a lot and I have never had so much as a rescheduled flight until two months ago.
In the past two months, we've had four flights cancelled. They have all been to or from LHR and STR: three with BA; one with Eurowings.
The first we had to completely cancel because the alternative BA offered was no good (we were notified 3hrs before take-off). The second and third (BA) we have rescheduled as they're for in a fortnight's time and then at Christmas. The final one was my brother-in-law's flight this morning (Eurowings), which he rescheduled to 2pm after being notified of the cancellation, again 3hrs before take-off.
Is there something going on? With commercial aviation staffing levels? At LHR? At STR?
Or are cancelled/rescheduled flights commonplace and I've just been extremely luck over the past 40years?

Not helpful for you but I haven't been on a plane since this time in 2019. Not in any rush to get on one any time soon.

I fucking hate it, mate. In the past, I had the desire to see lots of places and that won out, and nowadays, I have family abroad which means I have to do it now and then.

We often drive as well.
Will suggest we give this a go, next time.

I'm still waiting on a hotel refund for when BA cancelled a flight <2hrs before departure.
Flying is fucked but travel is not and time is precious so fuck it. If trains weren't so expensive and this wasn't a shitty, insular island, I'm sure it would be slightly better.

Re: flying, just sack it off until it is truly sustainable. Last flight in 2001 no plans to resume.

Bastards.
Was this recent?

Haven't flown since January 2020.
Have to be honest, I flew quite a lot before that, long haul, short haul, weekends away and long trips, but then Covid, kids (although first born pretty much circumnavigated the globe in his first year) and wife's illness hit. Not planning any more trips in the next 18 months at least.

People.
Previous Zipcar user had parked the car in the wrong street.
Zipcar took 15 minutes to answer the phone, by which time I was already on a bus and making other arrangements.Still, I spent £1.75 on a single bus hopper fare instead of £9 for a zipcar (which was refunded), was home pretty much at the same time as I'd usually be (although I was very lucky with buses), and I got £6 credit from Zipcar for the hassle, but it meant I couldn't give someone the usual lift.

👋
It there an easy trick to memorizing the spelling of each?
I really think that it should be taught in primary school.
