  • ... flying. Again.

Is there anyone here with insight and/or inside knowledge?

Despite hating flying, I have flown a lot and I have never had so much as a rescheduled flight until two months ago.

In the past two months, we've had four flights cancelled. They have all been to or from LHR and STR: three with BA; one with Eurowings.

The first we had to completely cancel because the alternative BA offered was no good (we were notified 3hrs before take-off). The second and third (BA) we have rescheduled as they're for in a fortnight's time and then at Christmas. The final one was my brother-in-law's flight this morning (Eurowings), which he rescheduled to 2pm after being notified of the cancellation, again 3hrs before take-off.

Is there something going on? With commercial aviation staffing levels? At LHR? At STR?

Or are cancelled/rescheduled flights commonplace and I've just been extremely luck over the past 40years?

  • I'm still waiting on a hotel refund for when BA cancelled a flight <2hrs before departure.

Flying is fucked but travel is not and time is precious so fuck it. If trains weren't so expensive and this wasn't a shitty, insular island, I'm sure it would be slightly better.
