Inland towards ormskirk its a bit flanders between the farms but very exposed . Lydiate has nice cafes and the fishing one off the main road at the river crossing Rufford . Trans pennine is your other option.

Lovely route along the coast (past the Gormley Statues on the beach) from Southport to Liverpool. Last leg along the Leeds Liverpool Canal to central Liverpool. Continues from Albert Dock further south toward Runcorn.
Also good rides around the Wirral

Did the Road bike Tour to Ashurst's Beacon linked to above which was great although would describe the conditions as Flandrian...could have done with mudguards

Did the Rivington Pike ride yesterday. Really enjoyed it with some pretty stunning views from the top out towards Manchester. Again, would recommend.
I'm heading to the Southport area with bike in v early November and interested in whether anyone has any recommendations for riding in the area on the road to gravel spectrum
