Remember at the end of the days it’s money, load of people brought bikes during the 73’ oil crisis as a solution, but quickly revert to cars when the price is more favourable.
Changes only happen with government setting a goal or money (or even both for us).
Saw an interesting review of the new Mazda 3 which has a novel type of internal combustion petrol engine. The reviewer made the point that it was so efficient and cheap to run (even with current fuel prices) that - combined with the lower purchase price - it was competitive with buying an EV.
