Then we kicked everybody else's castles down and (partly due to meddling that the UK was hugely, if ineptly, involved in) global antisemitism was one of the things that emerged as they recovered. There's a savage irony in the way that many post-colonial societies, as they have reconstructed themselves after our departure, hung on to some of the worst things we could have left behind.
