  • The London Clarion Cycle Club has asked me to cordially invite members of LFGSS to join a fixed/single speed ride to Cambridge.

    https://www.londonclarion.org.uk/event-details/fixed-wheel-single-speed-london-to-cambridge

The London Clarion is affiliated to both the National Clarion and National Clarion 1895 and has as its objects mutual aid, good fellowship and the advancement of the principles of socialism.

The ride will be at a very social pace.

A number of members of the forum are also members of London Clarion. We would dearly like to increase that number.

You don't have to be a London Clarion member to join the ride but it would be nice if you considered it. Membership is only £15.

  • How do you find a route with 700m of climbing between London and Cambridge?

  • How do you find a route with 700m of climbing between London and Cambridge?

Very easily. I have ridden it many times. It is 722 metres of climbing from Islington. A little more from the City.

  • Am 50:50 on this depending on whether my beloved is working or not. Also, I’d meet en-route. Also, I might have to bail 50 miles in.

^ all the ‘everything wrong with this place’ food groups, right there. Well done everyone!

  • What is your eta and destination in Cambridge?

  • It would have the Espresso Library but that was forced to close last month thanks to Tory mismanagement of the economy.

Instead we are heading for a photo at a sculpture in Parker’s Piece.

We set off at 8am and I would be delighted if we did it in five hours but it could be a little slower depending on who comes along and who needs to stop and how often.

  • Enjoy this tomorrow, Clive. Though you must be fed up with riding to Cambridge by now...

  • see you in a bit Clive :)

  • I would be delighted if we did it in five hours

    That's not a pootle!

    Have a good ride all.

  • Five and a half hours. A gentle pootle. 21 kph average speed. Great company and lovely weather.

  • Great stuff, what glorious weather you had too!!

Looking forward to joining future rides
