It’s left a massive power vacuum, and for stability’s sake it’s better that the US fill it and do what they can to avoid a confrontation with Iran, than to have multiple other countries try and get involved. Not that I’m advocating for them to do it, but if it keeps Russia, China, Iran, Turkey, etc from adding powder this magazine, it’s the lesser of two evils.
@lynx Russia is using Iranian drones in Ukraine. It remains to be seen if Hamas used Iranian drones this weekend.

Seems likely but more in the way Ukraine uses them; there's footage of them dropping munitions onto Israeli tanks from drones.

Thanks, sort of fear that the drones can come from any Arabic country and be labelled as Iran for an excuse.

Ahh yes, China and Iran. You know the countries that go around the globe invading other countries and financing coups. Oh, wait.
In no situation is the US getting involved the lesser of two evils.

Iran foments coups and attempts to destabilise other countries. China has invaded other countries and is constantly threatening to invade Taiwan and also is accused of sponsoring coups.
Not saying the US is better, but...

Taiwan is a breakaway state, it’s like if we formed a government and a handful of people didn’t like it so ran away to Wales and the said it was its own country… If you look what China is doing in Africa forgiving debt for political influence I would say it’s a much better international policy than say France.
I’m no fan of Iran but we do need to remember why the leadership got power. I may also add Iran hasn’t invaded a country since 1980 which ended in 1988.

The population are so much better off now, are they? How about the population of the Lebanon with Hezbollah... or for that matter the countries where Hezbollah has directly carried out terrorist attacks or provided material support?

No. It's not like that at all. Again, are the people of the PRC better off now because they're under the PRC than the average US Citizen?

Oh good. I don’t know enough about this at all.

You do know it was the US and U.K. that backed the coup that got Irans leadership in power right?
As for China look at distribution of wealth and poverty. They have absolute poverty levels at 0.7%, ours are 17%. They’re working to improve their populations life as the west is just greed. Look at all increase in production. It hasn’t gone to workers at all.
I see more hope in China long term than I do the west.

They aren't DJI Mavic type consumer drones, Iran designs and manufactures them

Your grasp of history is tenuous, at best.

The UK and US backed the Iranian revolution?? The Pahlavi dynasty sure, but they’re not the ones we are discussing.
And since when does poverty levels prove a country is a good place to live. When was the last time a UK or US citizen was vanished for criticism of the government. When was the last time a leader of those countries banned pictures of a cartoon bear as some people said he looked like it.

Yeah this kook is on ignore now, hoping these threads will still make some kind of sense...

What led to the ‘79 revolution? I keep saying this, things don’t happen in vacuums.
“ there are no blanket ban on books and toys of the Winnie the Pooh character, and are still able to be purchased widely in the country. Additionally two Pooh-themed rides still operate in Shanghai Disneyland.”
And in regard to your post about poverty.
difficult for me to imagine what "personal liberty" is enjoyed by an unemployed person, who goes about hungry, and cannot find employment.
Real liberty can exist only where exploitation has been abolished, where there is no oppression of some by others, where there is no unemployment and poverty, where a man is not haunted by the fear of being tomorrow deprived of work, of home and of bread. Only in such a society is real, and not paper, personal and every other liberty possible.

Bro, everyone has to make some sacrifices. Even Boxer had to go to the glue factory for the greater good.

This is just going to descend into shouting isn't it?

My own solution to this issue: enlarge Palestine by dredging the Med to create some new land. I haven't done the sums yet, but this would also reduce sea levels globally, saving the Maldives etc.

I'd need to see some working.

Anyone reccomend some good impartial books to read on the Israel Palestine conflict?
My history knowledge is a bit embarrassing and need to read up. -

I am uncomfortable with the government being so pro Israel, despite the latest round of atrocities, both sides have done appalling things to each other. We should be neutral and help in the pursuit of peace. I don't see how projecting the Israeli flag over Downing Street would in anyway help the peace process.

We start with the total surface area of the sea, which is 139.5 million square miles. To get sea levels to drop by 12 inches, we do a sum to calculate how many cubic metres of stuff needs to be removed from the sea bed.

Holy mixed units, Batman!

I mean, it's obvious why the flag is being projected...
As for the Iran comment, the US and UK have been 'playing' with the local politics since after the 2nd world war.
Are the Iranian drones being used by Ukraine or the Russian in Ukraine. Don't know.
