@Manson7am does amazing work.
I shall post some photos of current state soon, but I can tell you it ages very well

Amazing. That’s some great screen printing too.

Thought I would put some stuff up as seem to be doing more sign writing than printing of late.
I usually screen print my work onto glass but here are a couple from the last month that are totally painted

Also, here is the shopfront that took over 9months to complete due to so many changes, delays and too many cooks moments.
The windows were 5m tall and required gilding and printing from an internal scaffold and some ladders, all very sketchy but really pleased with the final result.
Also did swing signs and the external ovals which were real nice to work on.

These are fantastic @Manson7am
Odd one- I can’t remember where I saw it(epic win thread maybe) but this seemed the place to ask.
I know I’ve seen little clips of someone whose thing is writing in the style of old fashioned fruit and veg market signs - black chisel-tip sharpie on neon card. One shot and perfect every time, feel like I’ve seen clips of him sat at a pub table writing peoples names etc. Seems to have a variety of fonts absolutely locked into his muscle memory. So simple and stunningly beautiful. Does anyone know who I’m talking about? I know he exists but no clue how I’d search for him or his work again. :/
This sort of thing but at least 1000x better executed and almost always on neon cards.
Sorry if this is an unnecessary derail..

Peter Lindbergh can do that sort of thing

Much appreciated, not the guy I had in mind but that’s stonkingly impressive work.
My handwriting is worse than you could ever possibly imagine(especially for someone who does intricate work) so stuff like this is doubly cool in my book.

Looks proper to me.

@Manson7am those are stunning. Thanks for posting, I’ve not seen this thread before.

I am dyslexic @edmundro and so I used to spend so long writing in school and it was all bullshit so I figured it might as well be pretty.
I see letters as shapes rather than letters, means my misses has to spellcheck everything before I start, I have to send her photos from site and everything!

Now that’s interesting, I think breaking it down into shapes would make sense to me and how I would probably approach it as well actually(I work with glass/mirror) and tend to work well when I channel my ocd but don’t let it ruin riot(or I can end up losing my shit over 0.2mm inaccuracies.
My excuse for my handwriting was always being naturally left handed but going to a primary school were it was absolutely verboten 😬
Nowadays I write right handed but use tools/catch a ball etc left handed.. -

Would I know your work/Any photos of your stuff?
I give myself 0.6mm registration overlap when I screen print but often have to print lines that are 0.08mm and so that becomes the tolerable error.
Finest I have successfully gilded is ~0.1mm but the line struggles to really hold.

I post in the craftsman thread sometimes. I’m the lead prop maker at the only bespoke mirrorball company.
You’ve probably danced the night away under my work and never realised ;)

Wow! Those are absolutely beautiful!!
Do you cut the panels from glass sheets? Could a design be gilded on to a glass panel then cut up and make a mirror ball from them?
-

I’ll dm you later and explain that end of the process. It’s something we looked at previously but there are limitations. Not impossible though.

Fortuitously this is the first post I landed on when opening this thread, but 3 years old. I'd like to get our door number painted...based in east London. Recommendations? (Excuse the dull 7am picture)

Pretty sure you're after Peter Paid. Does a lot of neon fades with hiphop lyrics and stuff for celebrities.
John Downer also does some really nice, clean, grocery store signs. HIs compositions are great.

Moved house and thought I better practice what I preach.
A painted and gilded transom that has the original name of the house (WOODSTOCK) from 1908 (I found it on the deeds. Every house on the estate was named apparently) as well as gilding to the glass work on the door from 1908 that has brilliant cut “glory stars” on it.
Also done a neighbours (BIRCHDALE) who dropped past to ask about it. Would love to do more of this stuff locally.

Wow!
Do you have any WIP photos?
