You might be correct. Tar rather than nicotine. Equally horrible stuff. And so hard to get off your hands. To think this will be lining the walls of your lungs as you indulge as a smoker. I can't think of a better reason never to pick up a cigarette ever.

All of Miscellaneous and Meaningless is essentially members only now because of all the AI bots that were looking at everything.

Nah, won't accept a dog pile just because someone doesn't tread the israel = good, palestine = bad dogma.

You have a point.
The situation is so complex and borne of centuries of history affecting both these Semitic groups, Arabs and Jews. There is culpability on both sides, and on others such as the empires that controlled that land, recently the Ottomans, then the British. ( Less recently the Babylonians, Greeks and Romans), The USA obviously wanting a presence in the region etc.
Both sides are threatened existentially, fear of which has led to more entrenched views and increased hatred and sadly a drift from any hope in seeking peaceful solutions to what will be increasing violence - so sad and bleak.
That being said, neither side has a mono-view, there is nuance and some small attempts at conciliation though these are nothing like they were in the 80s (pre Rabin's death) where שלום עכשיב (Peace Now), and the Labour movement engaged swathes of the population.
Can't see a way through unfortunately apart from things getting even worse before they decide that another way is necessary. And there is no strong international will to push things.
(I have some skin in this and will elaborate this elsewhere when I get a mo)

Says the dogma guy.

Am I missing something here?
Where on earth holds that Israel = good as the default dogma?
The default response pretty much everywhere (other than the US, SA and NI Unionists) is to be critical of their actions and share sympathy with Palestinians.

It is a bit much eh?

It's pretty uniquitus, just look at the reporting, you'll find Palestine barely ever mentioned by name because Israel doesn't recognise it's existence (try finding Palestine on Google Maps), constant comments about any building being blown up as harbouring terrorists, the only outrage coming from videos on the ground but never an official condemnation or anything. Even when Israel targets journalists you'll get some people online being outraged and maybe an article or two but that's the extent of it.

amongst the tech savvy metropolitan elite yeah maybe but even here, someone says maybe a proud IDF member isn't so innocent and gets shouted down as a terrorist apologiser.

Dunno, feels like a lot more money will be spent for fuck all.
Pretty pointless unless you are the corruption commissioner - I imagine the pay packet will be pretty tidy.

• #85044
"isn't so innocent..." So would deserve to be brutalised by a women-hating death cult? Yeah I'll shout down that sort of stupid, ignorant, bollocks anytime. Chief.
-
• #85045
Did I say anyone deserved to be "brutalised by a women-hating death cult"? No.
Here's a question for you, if a soldier is killed while being part of an occupying force, is that justified? What if that soldier was a conscript rather than a volunteer? What if they were proud of their actions? -
• #85046
It doesn't have to recoup much to be net positive though, does it? It doesn't sound like it should be stupidly expensive to establish but if the loss is £7bn it only has to slightly improve recovery to be worthwhile.

Here is a handy guide for liberals to follow in case you carry on getting confused about past, current or future conflicts.
Edit: I mean liberals in the classical sense.

Say? No. Imply? well yeah maybe...
All starts with, I'm guessing, your position that the state shouldn't exist at all. So therefore all actions to defend it are illegitimate, all actions taken to attack it are legitimate. Even if they are actions taken by members of a disgusting women-hating death cult....Rah Rah Hamas eh? Doing all that lovely justified killing'n brutalising...
Well, according to the UN, the country does exist and people born there/living there may naturally be involved in defending it from attack and might even feel proud of doing that. Surprising ?
Oh god do we have to? Think of the nut jobs it will attract
