  • I have one of these: https://bike43.com/ And have been super happy (I have an older model with a hub motor even and it still has been great) (they offer bosch and shimano options) Im not much shorter than you and i find the spacing for the 3rd kid at the front of the rack makes it look a bit more spacious parked next to terns. Also having the larger front tire makes it feel a bit better running up and down curbs and what not

  • Some friends are after a longtail to carry two kids, 2.5 and 5. They're looking at a s/h Mycle for budget reasons but I'm not convinced it's not just a waste of money.

    They live at the top of a hill in the calder valley so will need a good motor and gearing for the way up and good brakes for the way do.

    Has anyone got Mycle experience?

  • We are selling quite a few Veloe Multi bikes at the moment. I really like that they have a larger wheel size than the Terns, are a bit cheaper and just seem all round smooth. Bosch and Shimano options available.

  • Yuba spicy curry. Ours has been flawless.

  • We picked up one of these from our local Edinburgh dealer at the end of August. It's been really great. Rides more like a 'proper' bike than the Tern and still gets two bigger kids on the back. It's nicely specced for the price too.

  • We have a Bosch CX and I'm always greatful for it. One thing to consider is the drop off in torque with the battery. When the battery is the low the lack of torque is noticeable. I can lug 40kg uphill without much issue.

  • This gets worse the older the battery gets too.

  • Long tail? Benno Boost, has normal seatpost angle (so not as good for shorter persons) but has larger rear area for kiddo's. Better quality seat pads too.

  • New stoppin' stuff. @amey proper magura pads are waaaaaaaay easier to fit. No fannying around with the tabs.

  • Came across this fork today, thought it looked intriguing. Maker says v low maintenance, and when it does need a service it’s just a case of replacing the rubber pieces

  • I think that if you have sleeping children in the cargo bike who are leaning their heads on something, there is actually no alternative to the touring bike fork in order to prevent brain damage.

    That is a bold claim.

  • Yes totally extreme. I did wonder if something was maybe lost in translation there

  • Much stiffer braking, less squealing (or the tiny bit there is is in a higher register I'm assuming due to the stiffness).

    The magura pads have a thinner metal backing and the tabs have a tighter bend so the pads sit in nicely, not sticking out like the off brand ones which meant you could barely get the second pad in.

    Thought about BMW style forks in cargos actually.
    And if you've spent 10'000€ on your R&M, what's another 800€?
