Thanks for your well wishes. Had it not been for my son, I probably wouldn't have gone this year. Covid had delayed his deployment to Japan to be an English teacher in 2020 until this August... I hope to be able to update the thread while I'm there unlike my trip to the Azores.

This decade long obsession with handlebars is a thing of beauty. Thanks for bringing us on this journey with you so far.

I arrived on Saturday night and had a chance to pass by Brotures in harijuku to peep in while in the area. I've reached out to Toshi to meet up in person for some pedals/chain tensioners and stem... I hope we can figure something out.. Here's a pic in the ryokan we are at.. Build pics coming soon

It has been an eye opener in culture shock. Aside from the obvious language barrier, the population density in the city was a shock. Especially at the shibuya crossing... Couldn't help myself from buying an njs 47t sugino s-cubic gigas chainring on top of what I've mentioned ordering. Toshi has been quick to respond to my inquires and I look forward to meeting him in person for the exchange... I plan to run 47/18 on the skreet

I appreciate the pocket WiFi here in Japan. Its made posting updates so much easier then when I was in the Azores earlier in the year... After returning to the city from a couple of days out in the country side I've made a few observations. A lot of cyclists ride on the sidewalk along side pedestrians. It seems weird because where I live you can be ticketed for doing such things. I also haven't seen many sick fixie's on the streets of Tokyo. Most single speeds I see are generic unexciting builds with the exception of store displays that don't even look like they are being ridden. I should be meeting up tomorrow for the parts but regrettably have reached my limit of duty free shopping or I would have bought everything in Japan to complete the build... Here's a pic of the coolest bike I've seen so far on the trip

Awesome dude! Indeed beware of the sidewalk cyclists, I had a few close encounters myself last week, especially as you have to keep left here. Have a great trip, ohayougozaimasu from Kamikochi ✌️

Hey Bro, if you have time we should meet up for a spin.. I'm sure my cousin wouldn't mind if I took his nagasawa out for a run. I actually haven't had a chance to check it out in person (only seen pictures) yet. I'm meeting Toshi in a few hours to collect the parts I ordered when I got here. I will make sure to post pics when I get everything...

Sounds cool man, never ridden a nagasawa before 😎
But helas we are on a tight schedule and my partner will be probably be asking difficult questions when I overthrow her schedule and hotel reservations to go for a ride with you 😉 -

Its all good... Had some time in the hotel while the wife sleeps off a late night to cover up some top tube blemishes before the journey home tomorrow

My cousin gave me some spare parts(chopped bars/brake levers)to take home with me for future consideration... I also couldn't help mocking up the stem for a preview. I have to mention again how courteous and considerate Toshi was in delivering the parts to me in person at the hotel in asakusa.. I made sure to find a good spot to feature the decal I got from them. I apologize for the washroom pics as we pulled an all nighter at the end of the trip and the wife has little patience when sleep deprived. I'm hoping it will make the 10 hour flight home easier to get some shut eye...

I promise to give her a life of excitement outside of the track.. Its a toit fit with 28c's.Further trying to preserve the frame, I dropped a thin piece of plastic in the seat tube slot to try and minimize water collecting in the bottom bracket shell. Chain tugs hand tensioned.. Conflicted about swapping out the bottom bracket to fit omniums. It feels buttery Smoove
Post edit: tighter still with 32c Gatorskin

I have a Gigas chainring too and it blinds my eyes with shinyness

Yeah I can't wait to try out that finish coating for them claimed marginal gains... I'm gonna be happy as long as it feels silky smooth.
Post edit: Fender mounted in accordance to current weather conditions.. Chainring looks good mounted to omnoms... Matches the decal on the non-drive side chainstay. Also swapped the saddle for a matchy short fit rather than the carbon flight originally planned

All is not butterflies and rainbows in Skrt-land... Dropped the Bomber at the Shop and the attempt to dissemble the bottom bracket begun.. I witnessed it took two guys to remove the non drive side axle side. That's where the luck ran out. They had 3 guys try to remove the Cup/bearings on the drive-side. Even after drenching it in penetrating spray it wouldn't budge. Its now submerged in pbr to try and free it up tomorrow. The only consolation is that it has been raining since we have returned from the trip. My patience is growing thin.
Here's some shots of my cousins ride. Phil hubs and Chris king headset winn.. He said my son will be the recipient should he be reassigned from work to a different country.

All is good.
Had to ride it an hour after picking it up from the bike shop. Really feels similar to my ishiwata tube set kuwahara but with tighter and steeper geo. Its been a while since passing it on so my memory may not do the bomber enough justice... Loving it!
