Always update the value, but a valuation by a retailer might be useful evidence. We update our jewelry valuations every couple of years. The guy who made the engagement ring for us is happy to do that for minimal outlay. Might be worth a quick call to the insurance provider to check.

Looks like I'll put 18 batteries into an old wall clock. Something tells me I should have gone for an external power supply.

It's an old clock that needs a main clock.
Thankfully there is an über nerd that makes controls.
Two big batteries feed the radio thing.
And then it needs 24v to tick.
So either power supply or 16x1,5v batteries.
Didn't want to have a cable going to the clock, so now will buy more batteries than I needed in the last 20 years in one go.
Would go eneloop, but they don't really do 1,5v. -

There are quite a few BB58s that have sold on ebay for no more than £2k which is about £1750 to the seller. It might just be that the market has cooled somewhat and/or saturated.
But I'm sure your dealer would still fancy their chances selling one sooner than a quartz GS (as nice as quartz GS are).

They offered me £1500 and £200 less for the GS, I think thats the thing that has put me off it being a Quartz..

The secondhand market has definitely really dropped off and I suspect that dealers are sitting on a lot more stock than previously, so aren't that interested in adding to it unless they get it in on a real low ball figure. Just to be extra cheery, I'm not sure I see demand/values picking up any time soon either given the general economic outlook. There are dealers who'll sell on consignment - if you don't mind waiting for the money, maybe they could be worth a try?

Should have kept mine, having waited nearly a year originally. Now they are selling them on the website. Hey-ho.

They have so many models/markets/movements could people please list the model number when they post a picture to give the rest of us a chance to find out more info. Or is there an AI app for this already ;-)
